Hey, Chris D how are you? Yes Nor Cal has a belt race schedule for this weekend, are you planning on racing at Nor Cal?

John B, thanks for the info on them M 07, and are you taping the pinion cover or just tape itself? John, are the stock shocks ok to run or do I need to change to the TRF long shocks?

Sporto87,

Mid or LWB is your preference of driving style you can try both since you can now just flip the rear arms around for either length(much easier).  Mid=swift or mazda roadster, LWB=mazda2.

Shocks need to be Sedan length, if you have the mini shocks just use a longer shaft or use the longer plastic shock mounts.

The chassis needs to be sealed so pay attention to the areas in the instructions where they tell you to put the foam seals.  I use electrical tape to seal, just enough to keep the pebbles out of the transmission.(use a flashlight to find the holes)

For the gear diff you must use the setup on Tamiya USA FB page.  Don't have the part numbers, but they are the TA06 alum outdrives and gear diff covers.  They aren't part of the M07 Hop Ups but these are TCS Legal.

Gear diff lube( I am still experimenting)...at TCS I had 500k weight.  The trick here is to put the right amount of diff lube inside.  You do not need to fill all the way like a sedan, in a Mini you need a little rotation.  Currently I am playing with 1mill ( make it feel like a smooth ball diff and your there)  I really don't like spools on a mini it makes the rear over rotate.

I will be at Norcal this weekend tweaking the setup.

Hey guys I just picked up a NIB MO-5 V.2 for a great price. I haven't raced a Mini for maybe 8 years or so but have the bug again, and it was always my favorite class. An MO-3 was the late one I ran. So what are the needed Hop-Up parts suggested and where would be the best place to get them, Tamiya parts have always been hard to find and it seems that hasn't changed. Shocks, Front one way or ball diff, what Alum. suspension parts.? As I said I have been out of the game for quite some time and would appreciate any info. I know they are coming out with a new (MO-7) car but would like to build up a traditional Mini. Thanks

I won't be at NOR CAL, I will be running the Ground Pounders event on Sunday the 7th of May at Driven Raceway in Rohnert Park. The club has four to seven entries depending who shows up. I will be running NOR CAL on the third Saturday or Sunday of the month.

I am not going to race it in TCS. It's just for fun club races. Have a Fiat Abarth body to match my wife's car too.

Kit pinion Joey.  Got some used spec tires if you want a good set .  Maybe get some sways ,30mm fan , ball diff and set of springs.  Mazda 2 or Mini Cooper for long wheelbase and Swift or CRX for mid.  John B. Can give more input

Is Nor Cal hobbies running a two wheel drive class, or is the class the Tamiya M-03, M-05, M-06 chassis ? There is a difference between TOP racing two wheel drive Sabre Mini and Tamiya M chassis. I thought Nor Cal ran first and third Sunday's of the month? If there's a race tomorow, I can bring my M-05 V2.
