IN 2wd and 4wd indoor carpet we are not going to run foams as part of the classes. We feel it wouldbe best if we just stuck with regular offroad rubber type tires on the carpet. The vendettas foams are ok, since most are running them as it is.

The only change I made on my B4 was adding more preload, due to the smaller foam tires. I am sure the setup could have been better though (I dont know offroad setups too well) but the car did feel pretty good with minimal changes.

I tried silver front tapers and red BK bars on Saturday and they were terrible.  I switched to switches in clay compound and the car was on rails.  John drove it and couldn't believe how hooked up it was.  I'm not sure if it was the compound or the tire but they work.

The older I get the faster I used to be.

Kiran-They had Red Taper rears in stock at Norcal last Sat.  Give Gary a call at the shop and he can set some aside for you.

Holeshots are not a good choice for carpet.

Also mixing of the tire brands can cause the push you talked about Francis. Panther switch 2.0 and Bobcat fronts in soft or clay compound will work very well.A couple simple adjustments and you will get all the steering/cornerspeed you need.

For 4WD Buggy Holeshots all-around worked for me. However, I had more tire wear than I did outdoors and I ran those same Holeshots outdoors for 4 full race days with little wear. It provided a whole lot of steering though.

I also tried Panther Switches in the rear with Losi front Taper Pins with Paragon and it also provided alot of steering but the car started to push as soon as the Paragon wore off after several laps (I didn't soak them for a long time though).

Panther switches also work really well in dry conditions outside. Wow a tire that works well inside and outside what a concept.

I think if you really want to go fast with your B4 buggy on carpet you will need a carpet setup that is considerably more stiff than the normal dirt setup. The Dirt setups are meant to absorb bumps. With that carpet setup, your car pushes and there are no bumps. Cornering is the main issue. Why not run at least 1 spring rate higher and thicker oil?

Foam is just not a good idea in general. They chunk, you can run different sizes, etc. Stick with rubber and have more fun.

I ran Panther Switches and Bobcats with the stock foam and Paragon on the tires.  The car was really good and driveable using a setup for dirt (the Lightweight B4 setup that Biner posted.)  I tried Jason's foam car during practice and it was definately faster, but a lot less forgiving and harder to drive.  If foams stay legal, i'd probably pick up a set to try, but I think that it would lead to people having specific dirt and carpet car setups.

I havent built the new chassis yet. I have to finish up another project before I can start the new one. I am hoping I can make the chassis before the end of Febuary. Saturday is gonna be fun.
