I know I don't HAVE to, but I feel like it's at least sporting to say sorry. That's kind of the point of a lot of the moaning and groaning. None of us are pros and even the pros make mistakes, but when you do make a mistake MAN UP, apologize, try to learn from it and move on.

I agree with mike. It does no good analyzing what coulda woulda shoulda happened. Nic take the camera off. If everyone just maintained proper etiquette the situation will improve. NorCal is an excellent track and business. We are all lucky to have it. Yes we should have drivers meeting every race day. It's not personal if you get called out for rough driving just take the advise and move on. It's a behavior that can be improved. It's about practice practice practice to learn out to draft and pass another driver. If you get passed or having a bad race, pushing the envelope and racing above your skills isn't going to improve anything, in fact will make things work.

Lets jut move on and race.

Chris you should not feel like you have to apologize for RC racing. IMHO. It's a gamble when we all race, regardless who we race and their ability to perform. I hope people will wake up and accept the fact it's a hobby not a money making investment. I for one have given up on winning any more its not worthe being the fastest it gets lonely at the top! Stay mid pack and have fun battles or stay in front and battle. That's when it's fun.

Actually, I'm going to put this out here. We should have a driver's meeting before EVERY race. We should go over driver's etiquette at EVERY driver's meeting. I almost jumped in on Saturday to say a couple things but I didn't want to step on Rick's toes. Next time I'm there I will approach him before the meeting about it.

I would also like to apologize to Lance and anyone else that Jacob may have interfered with in 17.5 SP on Saturday. He did pretty well for his first time driving a 2wd buggy, but had a couple incidents and I know Lance lost at least a spot because of it.

BTW: Rick is doing a great job. Keep it up. I've seen an improvement already.

It really is a thankless job. Int he last 4 years I've seen 3-4 RDs at NorCal. It seems like they will do it for a year or so and then don't want to do it EVER again. Threads like this are big reason why. If you have a complaint call or email Eric. Don't hammer on Rick, don't whine on the forums, etc.

I have a couple suggestions and I will email them to Eric today.

"4x4 sc will cleaner" I def. sensed the sarcasm there . I really like racing short course but it gets rough at times, Like bogey said its gonna happen in this class. Good days and bad but the fun part is finding a good battle on the track whether its for first or mid pack. This type of talk on the forum really is a big turnoff for people and the track. Moving forward is there any talk of norcal offroad champs race or kings race? I had a blast last year at the champs and am looking forward to this year.

I've been told by a few different people that if you want clean racing race 2wd buggy. So I sold my 4wd SCT and bought a couple B4.2s. After marshalling the last couple SCT races I think I made a good decision. The problem as I see it is that the 4wd SCt trucks are too durable and with the wheels covered there really isn't any deterrent to trying to pass in places that you probably shouldn't. All of you are pretty closely matched so you really have to press to pass someone.

IMHO Nick you should have gotten in behind EJ. He probably got out of shape trying to avoid hitting you when you jumped over the pipe. When you're already pushing the car any extra input will make the car come unglued.

Now, I just watched the video and I'm glad to see that you didn't catch me falling on my @$$ trying to jump over an oncoming truck. :^)

and to add, nicholas you are not a clean driver. What does coming on here bitching accomplish for you? Does it make you faster? The time you spend analyzing video, video taping, typing REALLY long messages on here, you should be practicing. I know you are trying to point out things to certain people but thats annoying and just pisses people off. Do you see any of the top level guys in the region coming on here doing what you do? Take it for what it is. That is the level of skill at Norcal right now. If you feel you are above that, take it to another track and compete with others, but pretty sure you guys are beating a dead horse, especially when you race against the same 3 people every weekend.

Maybe take the camera off your head and stop worrying so much about video. Your posts don't make people want to come run at norcal.

Should be a lot cleaner? Come on! Only way 4x4 would get a lot cleaner, may be with a 21.5 motor limitation for indoor racing. Good luck! Oh yeah every one stay humble and try not to complain after the race is over. Suck it all up and let it go, being mad about having fun is seriously unhealthy! Theses are toy cars not life endangering situations parts and money can fix all. If we are worried about how much is spent in the hobby, you shouldn't be spending it or racing at all! Just like gambling if you question the money you shouldn't be playing with it!

@edgy Not sure when they are racing outdoor again. I was told by Eric last week we would be indoors from now on for Saturdays. So 4x4 SCT racing should be alot cleaner :/

@EJ, the hairpin before the accident, it's not your fault, I pushed out a bit because -1. I had front inside lane priority so I should be able to choose the line. -2. I need some space into the corner, the corner is tricky and the pipe isn't straight, at that angle I will click the curb and roll over. -3. the very inside lane there is usually very dusty, brake doesn't work there. I used to brake there, car will either spin out (one side on dirt) or go straight out (both sides on dirt).

@josh, that's a great race, although check 1:11, shouldn't he wait?

@dave, will there be periscopes sticking out of the top of the car?

Well, i was not going to engage in this discussion but i believe i need to. First, i did want to thank rick for doing a great job on the mic saturday and keeping things rollin!

Dave, no worries at all. Unfortunately you just got caught up in wreck at the worst spot on the track.

As for the incident with nick, yes i was pinned as soon as my trucks tires hit the dirt after the jump. I had confidence almost every lap going on to the straight that my truck was actually hooking up very well and i could control it down the straight. With also being in control into the sweeper. However, in second place at the end of the first lap i hit the pipe and rolled the truck. Steve Tsuruda let 4-5 trucks go by before he turned my truck over and put it on the other side of the pipe in front of the center section. I then waited until tim, dave, nick, murch all went by the started racing again. I ended catching right up to the back of nick within the next couple of turns, If you watch the lap prior to nick and i getting into it on the straight i am on his back bumper. Going through the mid-section i had a open door to just push him out of the way, but that is not how i race. I kept it clean until the far section before the right hander to bring you back to the straight, I did spin him out. UNINTENTIONALLY. If you can see it guess what i did, waited for him to correct himself and keep racing ahead of me. My thoughts nick with watching the video is it may have made better to just let a truck going full speed in control pass you then get right back on his tail and continue racing. We were racing for position. There is no need to apologize,i do wish that the race was a little cleaner. Tim and i made up for it with a clean and fast 4x4 buggy race!! That was fun buddy!

For the rough driving. I do like all of the suggestions rakow, close, martens etc. have come up with. But i what i like the most is when someone actually tries something out from a suggestion and see if it helps/works. I had the privilege of racing up at rattlesnake raceway in redding a month ago. Jason schurig is the race director and he took it upon himself to try something out saturday. A SPOTTER. It may not be the solution for all tracks but thank you jason for at least caring enough to listen to the racers that are dealing with this issue. As of right now i would rather spend the money/time to run up and help support them once or twice a month. To be honest i am not sure if splitting up classes will help. But i will give this advice that was given to me from racers i have respected at norcal for the last three years. GET OUT AND PRACTICE. Tim and i decided several times this year to give up a race day and hit the track for practice. Smartest thing we have done yet. Yes, at worst the tracks are not prepped like race day but at least you will get drive time. If the track is in decent shape, break out the setup sheets, shock springs and oil, sway bars and tires. Try what you think would work, then come back in and try something different and feel how the truck, buggy and yourself react to the changes. Trust me the time is worth it!

I'm done, hopefully something i said made sense. Lol. Hope to race outdoor norcal again soon! BY the way, When will that be???

I tend to avoid hacking as much as possible, and if it happens, I'll wait and let them go first. Still there may be a slight chance I was in a hot fight and forgot about it, I'd like to know that, apologize and learn from it.

for the incident, sorry if I exaggerated it a bit. here's my reason for not going all the way outside. with my limited experience on this outdoor track, the very outside lane is the danger zone, bumpy, very dirty, can't steer nor brake on it. In races and practice before, I've had several spin out and bicycle moments driving alone, when trying to brake in the very outside lane, and when trying to steer a little in the middle of the straight way. That's why I chose a relatively middle lane, and hope a good racer like EJ can keep it inside.

This is my home track up in WA. Here is what we should all aspire to in our 4wd SC A-Mains. This is a pretty damn tight track and they are able to drive balls out and clean.

On a completely different and random topic. I've long joked around with the whole "we all live in a yellow submarine" lyrics, song, etc... Being that my truck has been all yellow for a while, and the body is dying, I was thinking about trying to do something silly. Has anybody seen something resembling a submarine that would be about the right size to mount around the electronics, so I can drive a yellow submarine with wheels around the track?

see, now is where you're argument really begins to break down. when you attribute something to me that i never said, it only shows that your own argument is weak. i never said you should have stopped. had you stayed outside, after you punched it over the pipe, we're not having this conversation. the fact is you went wide and then brought it back in. no getting around that. you seem to think that EJ could have made the split second reaction and then be able to correct his line on the straight while he's at full throttle to avoid a guy coming over a pipe. ridiculous.

i also find it funny that you ask aaron to let you know when you hack him, yet when someone hacks you, the solution is to post here about it.

@aaron, I consider this an analyze of a racing incident.

the problem is that, the my ideal solution to avoid the accident is if EJ put a tiny bit more steering into the straight way. While Tim's ideal solution is tell me to stop on the side of the track and wait for EJ to go first.

and if there's such moment I took you out and no wait and no apologize, please tell me and I'll apologize for that. check some recent videos and haven't found any yet.

This is rediculous! Hey Nick would you like a detailed picture by picture replay every time you take me out after I've lapped you two times already? You never stop and go btw. Just saying.

I'm not criticizing Rick, I see he's new and he can barely control his car. and for a guy who can barely control the car, I don't think he can have spare attention to approaching leaders, either. My point was the announcer should be watching leaders and tell the back markers to take care.

It can be very discouraging for a rookie when he's trying hard to move away and a angry guy walk to you and give out all the blame.
