The new indoor track layout doesn't help the situation. 2 rythm sections, one with an immediate right hand hairpin turn, the other an immediate left hand 90 degree turn. Following the first rythm section an immediate right hand followed by a jump immediately followed by a hairpin left turn doesn't help the flow of the track imho. Too many pile up spots. Every track needs technical spots, but should not one followed by another.

Lastly a driver driving rough that gets a win or better lap times....big deal. Getting a win and fast times driving fair is harder.

@nicholas... That's nice and all, but since you used a 17.5 motor in the mod class you have to switch places with the 7th place finisher. Look it up, it's in that ROAR Rulebook somewhere. No worries, I'm sure Mariana can photoshop in my picture!

Because I don't want my car broken that's why. We all want to win. It's about consideration and respect, someone drives rough to win has no respect for other drivers.

I was using the 17.5t buggy, with Harrison and Nick driving their 8.5t, 3rd is the best I can imagine, good battle with Gross as well. (I was planning to use mod class to try out the durango buggy, haven't found the setup before the race, so used the 17.5t buggy instead. )

17.5t expert is the intense one, everyone is so quick, and so stable. I fell behind in the start, have to overdrive the car to try catch up, but usually ends up with more mistakes during the race. Need more practice.

Honestly guys, this has been a great thread today. A lot of us are obviously frustrated and we just want it fixed. Complaining is easy, but offering solutions is the tough part and I think some good ideas were put on the table. Eric is a good owner and he listens to driver feedback. I'm sure he will read all of these posts and make a few changes to the racing program if he thinks it may help.

@nicholas... I raced you in 2wd mod buggy and you seemed pretty happy with your 3rd place finish after the race, so you're just as competitive as the next guy. BTW, good race. You had a rough start and really had to work for that one.

like steve said, something about etiquette. rule/law can't be perfect, there are obvious holes everywhere, sometimes it needs some ethics to work.

the thing I don't understand is: it's just a normal club race, no points for a series, no sponsors looking around, obvious no pro driver looking for collecting bonus, etc. Result pretty much means nothing. People just go there to have fun, race against others. Why so many furious people looking for that win?

the layout is great for battles, defensive inside line means it'll be difficult to make the jump well, those S-turns creates many different lines, had some great battles that night.

What's strange is that some of the worst offenders either don't even know their driving rough, in total denial. They are some of the most likable drivers at the track.

I was going to just start driving like that to be able to compete. But that's unacceptable. When. Come up on either a slower driver or tracking someone one. I'm on and off the brakes. At the start of race it's not about everyone just blindly going into the first corner. Drive it like it was a real car. You wreck your out.

I agree this is not a hard thing. Again this isn't about the rookies. This is about experienced drivers that won't take a stop and go to save their butt. If drivers won't play fair then the track needs to enforce the rule. I think that's sad. You have to be a freaking water head not to know if you just took a driver out.

I'm going to just start calling out names when it happens to me and there's not a stop and go. Draw the attention of the race director to the offending driver.

I'm tired of looking forward to racing spending. Bunch of money on kits and parts just get taken out by some driver that only cares about winning.

If we have enough marshals (other problem), why don't we just make one of the marshal spots up in the nest as a spotter?

Limit the amout of cars per heat/main to a reasonable amount per the size of the track, enforce edicate rules, and don't mix rookie/sportsman with expert/pro if at all possible. Why is it so flippen hard to do these things!

Someone from Norcal please chime in with a plan to make this happen.

I think that is a good idea for the rookie drivers, but I think it's safe to say the rest of the drivers know what the expectations are (doing it, that's another story). This topic has come up multiple times. Eric eventually chimes in and states that things will be better next time. They get better for a few weeks and then it starts all over again. Personally, I like the idea of a race referee because it's just too much to ask from the race director.

I've been thinking about this a bit lately and perhaps this used to be done but I think a 5 minute drivers meeting before the start of every race night would go a long way. There are lots of people every week that are the same but the fact is there is ALWAYS someone there that is new or new to the hobby. Taking 5 minutes to talk about marshaling and how to do it properly and safely as well as talking about etiquette and sportsmanship I feel would be something everybody can benefit from.  Even if you "already know all that stuff" perhaps just hearing it over and over again will remind people what to do when faced with a situation. For a lot of drivers, I would bet nobody has ever taken the time to explain that stuff to them. I would gladly volunteer to run such a meeting...I'm not shy. LOL. I'm just there trying to have fun and if I can help make it better, I'm all in.

loltoycardrama, same ole same ole.

I took a ride out today to get some parts. The track? Well, yeah, I'm really looking forward to that stadium completion! :-|

I'll be completely honest. I my opinion, under the current circumstances, I would level the big track and rebuild it. No sugar. The shoes almost pealed off walking onto a sugar snow cap near the end of the straight. It is too hard to fill and maintain it in its current condition. Use the sugar only to limit maintenance of the spots that cannot be easily worked on with the available daily equipment. Sugar the face of the very steep jumps like we did with mount Jelich and that is it.

Roll the rest with the big compactor and that way the Wacker and tractor will actually work for maintenance. I couldn't imagine trying to fill or level an area currently without the big roller it is so damn hard and sticky in spots.

Rebuild it and restrict it to 1/8 scale & 4WD SCT.

Then rebuild the 1/10 track. Kick the 4WD SCT off it until it can be maintained. After it is built and rolled, it can last a long time with just tractor maintenance. If it goes to crap a little bit, that is ok, without 4wd SCT's it, it's not going to get that bad that it can't be wet and rolled with the tractor.

Then yeah, just race and be nice and stuff till the stadium is finished.

That method is usually used at most large races. Yes! It is hard for the race director to catch everyone but guys like Stark and Cannon and Ruben can do it. It does take help for sure in addition to us drivers self policing ourselves.

What I can see from most tracks are the newer people coming in are not being taught how to race. The green flag drops and they see RED! We all need to teach these newbies what is right and what is wrong. Hell, I will even go talk to a veteran if I feel they did me wrong. With respect! Not yelling and screaming. If you want them to listen to you then don't yell at them up on the drivers stand and then expect them to stand there afterwards as you bitch them out.

I find that most people will hear you if your calm and approach them at a later moment when cooler heads prevail. Well - except for me - lol!
