Let's take it easy guys. No need to argue over this again. 17.5 is a growing class that most people jump into at first and that's perfectly fine. People can run whatever they feel comfortable with and right now it's 17.5. I know it's getting harder to get a mod buggy class going right now which sucks for people like me. I think the biggest problem is shying people away from mod and making them think it's a hard class. You can basically run whatever motor you want. It's open motor for a reason. Anyways, when it comes down to it, it's just about having fun.

Power (mod) can become your enemy... If there's one thing I noticed in RC cars over the years is that it is is trendy. Who knows what will be the hot class a year from now. I'll be there Saturday with my 2wd sc. Bring it!!

You soooooooocray Kozo.

Everyone wants to be a winner instead of following one. What happened to earning your stripes and getting better in the interim? Jake put it in perspective best. "2 wheel buggy world champ raced 17.5 at NorCal and did not win." Kozo is the guy to beat in 17.5? There is your target. Work at it or run Mod and suck there too. Your choice.

Not to change the subject or anything but you think the turnout will be o.k. considering the Fall Brawl at Outback and the N vs S at CVR?

whos crying? You started saying people are wasting their time in 17.5, Im not saying it was directed at me. If you read back my post was about a sportsman mod class. You chimed in about 17.5 expert and saying certain people are wasting their time there. Now you say people are crying cause I gave you several reason why people prefer to run 17.5.

How bout instead of posting anymore you work on not blowing up and throwing tempor tantrums on the drivers stand =)

17.5 class is totally taken out of context it's a simple class that every one can run. Even the 2007 2 wheel buggy world champ raced 17.5 at NorCal and did not win with a borrowed car. It's all simple just like life you can't all ways win until you try and try again to be better.

I can totally understand your point... Pros and cons to both approaches.

What do you think about SCT racing? Particularly the 2wd class. Do you think they should run 17.5 or mod? (if you had to chose just one).

17.5 as it stands is working, why not consider adding a mod class for bigger races and outdoor or if enough people show up? Then let people choose what they would enjoy running for the night? For right now i'd hate to see a good thing ruined by messing with a winning formula!

I'm having fun playing with my toys! R/c isnt' a career aspiration, it's something i do to distract me from career!

Lol... I know... Sensitive subjects... I think it's fantastic that all of us can voice our opinions, we just need to be respectful of each other.

Personally, I love conversations like this. In the end, the track operators will know what the drivers want.

With that said... I was unaware of some of the cost-savings involved racing 17.5 so now I have a letter better understanding why the class is so popular. Still sticking to my guns, but I do have a better understanding now. Good post.

Rookie and then open/mod. That's it. Let the qualifying rounds determine the rest. Sorry, not everybody can be in the A-main. As was stated below, the 17.5's are almost as fast as a mod buggy anyways, so why does that class exist? Great racers can not only drive well, but they also have good throttle control. The 17.5 reduces the importance of smooth throttle control. There are too many classes and it's spread out the talent, instead of creating better, more competitive racing. For those that argue that the jump from rookie to open/mod is too big, look at the recent success of some of our rookie class graduates. Rookies are already running lipo batteries and mod motors. If they can consistently do well in rookie, they will be fine in the open/mod class. Sure, they may have to B-Main it for awhile, but who cares. They started on the bottom as a rookie and had to work their way up and will need to do it again... Just my two cents.
