A whole bunch of fluffy info on a slipper eliminator. Keep it all simple. Just like 17.5 is. Their is not much power to tear up your diff. But you will be rebuilding it more often. Little big head at Delta was super fast with his slipper eliminator. Ask him! Just get a gear diff, slipper eliminator and balls out!

I would disagree a little that there is no need for a slipper in 17.5. Properly set up,it can help with the handling of the car in small but effective ways. If your are looking to lighten up the car, the slipper eliminator will do that in the drive train which is an advantage albeit slight. The caveat is the slipper can help with protecting the drive train also. You can get a lightened slipper set from Schelle as an option. Either way I doubt that little bit of weight will make the biggest difference. Ran a slipper a couple years back at Roar Nats in both my 2wd buggy and 2wd SCT in the 17.5 class and it did not hinder the speed at all. Matter of fact there were a couple gearbox failures from running the gearbox "SPOOL" The motors now have a substantial amount more power so if you go with a eliminator, watch your internals.

Also if you got a pucks, that acts as a buffer (the orange wear part) between the outdrives and driven wheels. Slipper eliminators are great for stock.

slipper eliminator is mostly for weight saving, I believe it's the lightest solution possible right now.

the fact is that 17.5t motor doesn't have the power to really use the slipper, if you try the regular slipper adjustment steps (hold two wheels and punch throttle), with mod power it will be slipper slipping and front lift off smoothly. with 17.5t motor, motor won't have the power to lift off the front at all, either slipper slipping and front not lifting, or motor failed to rotate itself and front doesn't lift off. If there's anything slipper should do to "protect" drive train, 17.5t motor is already doing it.

*really? that beautiful and expensive heavy metal tamiya for 17.5t class?

Joey, to get as much power directly from they motor as possible, rather than wasting precious rpm, heat, and mah on just creating more heat and less go with a slipper. They can be lighter than a full slipper assembly too, so you also remove rotating mass. The only down side is that you don't get the benefits of slipper driving, so you need to have the rest of your set up more correct and use throttle/brake control more precisely.
