I don't mind the door to door bumping. It's the spin out your competition and keep trucking I don't like. They have penalties for rough driving on the Lucas series. They don't use it alot but they do once in a while.

ANYWAY: back to our regularly scheduled pre-race bench racing...

ART, MARCO, DAVE, SAL: I need some average bros to race with this weekend. See you on Sunday.

hey chef,

you may have raced with my dad and codey hugheys dad. They used to race 2wd buggies (life size) in the VORRA series.

They raced at baylands, prairie city, and my dad did the baja 500 one year!

I agree with chef, check out the lucas oil or Traxxas Torc series, they be tradin paint like nobodies business!

Oh ya Marco your posts make me laugh =) Veterano!

I agree with Chris. I like the fact that I have to work my way into the A Main. Its a great sense of pride knowing you earned a spot to run with the Big Dogs. So keep up the great work Jesse on the race program. As far as all the " bumpin & grindin " like an R Kelly video ........... well I have had some great runs finished because I was hacked. I also have had open track with nobdy to blame for giving it up & choked lol. A good buddy of my told me a long time ago " Rubbin is Racing " & you " Win Some " & " Loose Some "  just keep coming back to try and tap that ass the next race day or next heat

Thank's Chris for not calling me a hack ! ( I have been called that a few times lately ) I went from 4th qualifier to Last in the First turn after "checking up " trying not to slam into Art ( best I have ever seen him Race ! ) in the first turn . I just mumbled to myself and kept driving and passed a few racers back -----

Just My 2 cents on Short Course Racing ----------- have you ever seen a Full Scale Short Course Race ? They have "tear off " Bodies because by the end of the Race most of their bodies have been "hacked off" by the other drivers . Tradin Paint ALL Day ! I have been to the Baja 500 --- Mickey Thompson Races --- Score Races -- VORRA Races and even tried my hand at Racing Baja Bugs in the 1980s - A Little Contact is just part of Off Road Racing !

Hope to make it back out Sunday for MORE Short Course Racing --- Dave K aka Chef Dave

P.S. I still think of all the Tracks I have Raced at lately ---NorCal has the Widest Lanes to make a Clean Pass on --- try some of the smaller Tracks where all hell breaks loose in every corner

Yes, I came in after the Slash days. I also raced boats and planes where a touch was most likely a DNF (or several hundred dollars of damage) for both drivers.

The thought has crossed my mind to move into 1/10th or 1/8th buggy. Maybe I'll give it a shot this year.

"Its short course remember, the first slash classes were bumping and bangin like crazy! People still have that mentality.

Get a 2wd buggy if your looking for clean racing."

Honestly, I don't think we need two separate classes. I like the idea of working my way up from the B to the A main. I've done it a couple times this year, so has Marco.

My real complaint is the mentality of a couple of the drivers . I think we need to set the expectation for the day. IMHO if you get tangled up with someone you should wait until you are both able to continue. If you are truly faster than someone ahead of you on the track you shouldn't need to hack them to get by. Chef Dave was faster than me in the 2wd main this weekend. He crashed on the first lap and got behind, but he was patient and got by me after a lap or two.

Jesse, I agree that you can't possibly watch the entire field nor can you hear what is being said on the stand.

Kevin and Jesse I'll send you an email. I think this needs to be taken off line. I should have just spoken to you at the track at the end of the day. Sorry for stirring the pot.

Resort's are only good when you do 2 or more rounds. It's a number game. Last week, we had 20 entries in 4x4 SC. That was the biggest turnout so far. If there is about that number again, there will be (3 heats.) which is really the way it should be done. Sometimes we are so strapped for time, I have to put everybody on 1 heat or like last week stack up 2 heats. It's not a combo race day this weekend, so we should have the time if there's 18 or more entries in this class. Aaron, keep up the good work out there.

I feel the 4x4sc class needs a round 2 resort class. I feel that only the local drivers racing each week are making the faster heat. Its not really fair for the faster people that dont race at nor cal all the time to have to go through two heats of the sportsman heat. Both heats should be random then on the second round we get a resort from the fastest thru the slowest.

The heats are always seeded, not just 4x4 SC but that goes for all classes. You qualify with other racers who are within the same pace. You'll notice when I set up the heats, there is a fast guy heat, seperated from any sportsman drivers. So, there is pretty much 2 divisions right now. There is not enough racers yet to have 2 different classes in 4x4 SC. Why have 7 racers in expert and then 7 racers in sportsman and having the issue and debate of who's a sportsman level driver and who's an expert. They're already qualifying seperatly, but with the added bonus of the chance to make the A main with the big boys. That's racing. I want to see 10 car A mains. I want to see guys be proud to make the A main, work to make the top 3 and give everything you got to get a win. The difference is instead of shooting for a sportsman division win, you're now shooting to make the A main with experts. There's 2 ways to make the A. We take the top 9, with 1 to bump. If you're not in the top 9, you are in the B main. Winning the B main is a prize in itself. You got the win, but now you get to go head to head with fastest 9 drivers of that day. This system works. It's creating racing that's through the roof at Nor Cal right now. I've done it both ways in my years past in running races. For the time being, I like what we got and the direction the racing is headed. Look at what Ken Johns did last week. He was in the sportsman group, qualified in the A and was contending, running with the top guys. Once the class grows a bit more, there will be a sportsman division.

As far as guys getting hacked: I do my best to call traffic and stop n goes or say "make it right" for the top 3. I only have 2 eyes. I go back and forth between the race and the computer constantly, calling the race the best I can. How many times last week did you hear me say "wait...wait.....wait...." that was me calling a penatly on a driver telling him to pull over and make it right. I recall about 4 times. I did not know of any yelling on the driver's stand, or talk after the races. I leaned about it after the fact. I'm up in the booth and I miss some things so I'm sorry about that. I will really focus to make sure anything like that is very minimal.

Let's keep this great racing up, Nor Cal has the best comp but yet has the most comradery. That's the real story.

Im not a local at Norcal but ive noticed every single time im there that smeone is getting yelled at or someone is taking me out.. expert should be seperated from sportsman in both SCT classes. But ABR has a very valid point, SCt is a hack-fest whereever you go, its shortcourse, not 2wd buggy.

once again, time for an intermediate and expert class. I think nor-cal is the only track not doing it?

sportsman and expert, doesn't have to be 17.5 sportsman, you can have a mod sportsman class.

Go to any track and race SC, its all the same. This is not a Norcal thing. The best racers seem to rise above it....so get your teflon on!

There seems to be two different classes of drivers in SCT lately. Those that wait for an opening and pass clean and those that have zero patience and will just plow right through you.

Last week 4-5 of us got knocked off the track by the same guy. His response, "Really? I didn't even see it happen."

This weekend someone in my heat crashed and I got ahead of him. Within two corners his bumper was in my door and I got spun out. I said he should wait and find his spot to pass. His response, "you left me room on the inside" Oh Really???? Why did I get spun if there was room to pass? In an earlier heat this same A-hole was cursing at the kids in our heat on the stand because they weren't letting him by cleanly. I try to make room for people if they are lapping me but I am not going to just move out of the way if you are on the same lap.

Who kept saying "you do me I do you"? That might become my new motto. :^)

I've had some good clean races with Chef Dave, Marco, Art lately and really enjoyed it.

There needs to be a bit more discipline from the drivers and enforcement from the stand. I really think we should have a drivers meeting before every race. We always did it when I raced boats and planes. It sets the tone and reminds everyone that we're supposed to be here to have some fun.
