Not aware of a track change. However, I did notice the driver stand is being raised so visibility will get even better.

Yes, folks are using clay compound. Also pink beams work well. There's all kinds of traction though - even a general purpose soft compound like proline's M3 seemed to do well.

BYOB(bring your own barcodes) though. I dropped by the shop yesterday, there's a backorder on rear buggy gold barcodes V1 but they do have MC IONS rear. Amain is also out and looks like they won't be available till Mar 3rd.

Sounds like a track change possibly? Looking to race the new layout this Sunday! Are people Clay compound tires?

Had a Great Time racing Sunday! Running 17.5 SP Was great seeing you again Eric V. The Innovations & RC-City days were awesome! (20-25 years ago bro... Time fly's!!) Been on & off racing since the late 80's... Definitely kept me out of trouble as a kid/teen!

You guys run a real smooth program!! Thanks to the entire Norcal crew and all the volunteers that helped get the place up and running Real good job everyone... I'm sure there will be many more phases to NorCal 2.0 in the future. I'll try to help out in the future as I can.

Just picked up an open stadium truck... Will be joining in the ST action soon too (maybe next week) I have a good buddy that will be racing with me most of the time (in stadium truck) . I've been promoting Norcal to my other friends & family to come join in the action! (Great idea on the rookie class being free for 3 races & always free under 12) I have a few people really interested in checking out RC racing for the 1st time. If everyone brings 1-2 new racers into the mix... we can protect the future of R/C racing and this track.

Also... Thank you to the guys that responded to my setup help threads last week. I ended up gearing 72/33, Ran Black front springs and left the motor timing at 20. But... will bump the timing to 35 for the next race to test out & watch the motor temps. The car handled great and was easy to drive!!! I finished 2nd Sunday and ran 1st for a portion of the race too! (was an awesome battle right till the end!!) I do have to work on my driving in traffic a little... I was probably a little to aggressive to pass a guy Vs. wait for a error or a better opportunity to make the pass. I'll work on that moving forward

Will try to make it out Wed night... any Idea when the racing should end Wed night?? (approximately... because I know it will vary)

Thanks, Jason aka JbayRC

Plumber tell Scotty to get another car or truck or even a Elite and head back to the track. Gotta see what other tats he has acquired or what other cool whips he's made.

Track is closed for practice on Tuesday, Feb 25th.   If you're around during the day and into the evening, we could use a hand.

Hard hat coming for Wednesday night.

Nothing but electronic gremlins for me this afternoon. It was a great race day though. And my buddy took his first victory in rookie class. yeee! :-)

And I hope Nicholas is alright after he took a SC to the head earlier. Scary stuff. And a lot of close calls.

Will be out soon... Currently working nights (and hating it) and updating my museum of rc cars.  On top of that I'm looking for a new job, long term temp is okay but not secure, add to it ~2-3yrs to get converted to a permanent job at tis place is not worth it.

When I had my Thunder Power, anything over 40 degrees timing felt like the motor would get too hot and slow down towards the end of a 6 minute main. I found that 30-35 degrees was the sweet spot. I did end up burning it up running 50 degrees timing for a race weekend, but a 2nd place finish at the 2010 Offroad Champs was worth it:-) especially when i made that "shuuuuuper sweeeeet" pass on Sagisi on the last lap! Had to quote a fellow Austin especially after seeing his results at the Nitro Challenge going on right now. But like they said,33-35/69 should be the correct gearing for that motor in a B4.2.33 if u need a little more "torque".

I would start with increasing the gearing to 72/33 then see if you need more motor for the jumps. I'm doing fine on 10 degrees with my speed passion 17.5r motor geared at 71/33

Cool... Thank you for the tips!!

Ya... Was pretty sure I was off on my gearing when the motor was fully back to get these gears to mesh up ) and Felt like I needed more gear, but... Was maxed out.

Anyone have experience with Thunder Power motor timing?? I can adjust from 0-50 deg advance. I was running at 20 But... Of course being a racer, I would like to max it out

Your gearing is wayyyy off. Start with 72/33 or 69/33 for starters. Green/black front springs work well with a white rear spring.
