That and they destroy the track like no other. Kinda selfish if you ask me. Run them outdoors where they belong. There's plenty of 10th vehicles to race.

to each his own i guess, but i personally do not see the appeal of running 1/8th scale on a 1/10 track, especially a small track that is typical of indoor tracks. the car reacts nothing like it does on a proper sized 1/8th scale track.

How about we just run the rookie class without turn marshals? No one will get hit in the head and they will have to drive with control if they want to make it to the end of the race.

Every one has a right to go as fast as they want outside the track. On the track it should all ways be governed, to have a novice a less experienced and out of controlled driver to have them start with a 21.5 or possibly 17.5. I'm sure their are reasonable priced or cheap brand motors the tracks could have and sell to new comers. I'm sure a 21.5 would be a great mild motor for a 4x4 SC truck.

I 100% agree with limiting inexperienced drivers to something like the 17.5 class until they show car and self control worthy of any mod class. I think this will not only increase safety for all but also develop them into better drivers.

The problem with this not happening at any particular track usually goes back to a business decision by the track/hobby shop owner. Rookies spend more money on fast cars they have no business driving yet, simple as that. Not to mention the possible cost associated with enforcing such restrictions from a manpower, time, etc perspective.

You have to know what is going on. Then you will understand why we are not happy with how the racing has gott way out of control. So get a car come out and enjoy what we all are complaining about.

I opted out of running e-Buggy lites because I accept that I am not an expert driver and those who ignorantly ignore their own instincts just to try out the class are putting other people at risk. Especially with the last gentleman who was unlucky enough to have a 4x4 fly into his head at the old track. We just need to display restraint as drivers and know your limits. This is racing, not a crash-up derby after-all.

Track layout with turn marshaling in mind is the last thought. Running up or down mounds of dirt and standing in areas where cars are jumping eye level or in the racers line of view is never thought about. All sportsman should run only with 17.5 motors only period finite done said no more. F ing mod motors for sportsman or any one exhibiting out of control car handling should be handled immediately.

Safety shoes, vest, eyeglasses and hard hat for the Marshall's! Especially on a track that is not easy to Marshall. Those cars are lethal. I'm kidding around but I'm not.

I agree with you Chuck. I think we need to put safety first.

@HUSE... I won't (lol). Just saying, having 1 single person control what class you can or can't run is a dangerous thing. If the class is that dangerous or beats up the track that much, then don't run it. Personally, I love them (buggy lite).

@KOZO... That statement was based only on what Ruben told me. He was heavily involved with ROAR at the time and he said that was their original intention, but it never caught on. I'm not agreeing with it, because I love the mod class, but simply repeating what he told me.

If I'm wrong, I'm sure he will chime in and set me straight (lol).

I'm still a month or more away from being able to race again, so I'll wait a couple more weeks before I make any purchases. I'm going to have to buy a motor and battery either way. There's no way I'll run one of my 2 year old Nanotechs for this class on 2s. :^)

Not only do they limit the motor KV they limit the physical size of the battery to the a standard ROAR approved stick pack. So a 4s pack is only going to be ~3300mA anyway. You can't use any more wattage than a typical 2s setup. As a matter of fact the 2s setup has a slight advantage, they are allowed to use up to a 4700kV motor and 2s packs are up to 7200mA in a standard stick pack.

Chuck your view of 17.5 and mod as roar intended is wrong. Roar did not intend for 17.5 to be a beginner class.  It is a stock class.  Roar does not have a beginner or sportsman anything.   Many expert drivers choose to run stock. Pretty sure you have heard this several times now. Just because the motors are slower doesnt mean it is a rookie class. The roar nationals do not have any classes with the title "sportsman". Its stock and mod. Pick your class and take the licks like the rest of us.  We are lucky many race directors in the region offer a seperate "sportsman" anything.
