UPDATE FOR iThinman: The condition of the 1/8 track as of Sunday was 50 degrees and slightly brown. The water was up to about kiddie pool size. Should be great if you are into wading. You might not even need a swimsuit.

Sounds like the elite losi is a super light 8th scale buggy with a 10th scale truggy body on it.

I compared it to the Ten-Te with the EliteRC conversion, which I think adds a little to the wheelbase. I didn't change the A-arms. And I took a lot out of the overall length by switching the 1/8 buggy wing for a 1/10 truggy wing.

did you change the a-arms? according to TA website, wheelbase on RC8 is 323mm and on losi website, wheelbase of ten-t is 301mm. the respective websites also show the RC8 as an inch longer.

i know sometimes these factory measurements can be different when you see the vehicles side by side in person. i'm just curious.

My RC8e conversion to a 1/10 truggy is identical in size (width and wheelbase) to the Ten-Te, but it's about 1.5 pounds heavier. I used SC8 shock towers and a Ten-T wing and body. I also downsized my my motor from the Tekin T8 on 4-cells to a Novak 550 5.5T on 2-cells. The power to weight ratio isn't very good on my truck, but it's OK for me because it keeps me from pushing it too hard. I think it would be ideal with a 3-cell lipo in the right hands.

making the class grow. hmmm. of course everyone wants that, but is allowing any vehicle with a truggy body the way to do it? let's be honest. the TT's started this class at norcal. now whether real or perceived, the advantage that bigger vehicles with longer wheelbases have can discourage current TT owners and dissuade perspective TT owners. the expense of buying a Ten-T and the conversion kit is another obstacle for people looking to get into the class.

nougat, what did you do to your 8th scale buggy to make it a 10th scale truggy?

I love it! Hopper stirring the pot and sitting back with his popcorn to watch it all unfold.

First, let's not take anything away from Sean's win with the Ten-T. He was winning the class with his TT as well, so it's not clear the Ten-T is really given him that much of an advantage.

The racing in this class has been very close (and incredibly fun) in the last 4-5 weeks and there are TTs, Ten-Te and even my RC8e conversion to 1/10 truggy. The truth is on a tight track like this one, the advantages to be gained from a 1/8 platform like my truck or Ten-T is not that great. If we went on the 1/8 track, it might be a different story, but even then we are all limited to 2-cell lipos so the heavier rigs may not do as well.

Let's not forget, just a few weeks ago J. Hernandez won this class with a Traxxas Stampede 4x4 converted to a 1/10 truggy--proving that the good driver can prevail no matter what.

Let's keep it flexible and fun so this class can continue growing.

good q pakk. s/x is right about the outer dimensions being the same between sc and 1/8. so why are they labelled different, beats me.

Pakk, The difference is SC tires are 2.2 in the front as opposed to 3 in the front and rear. It's the whole scale look (2.2 in the front) thing that makes the SC tires standard on SC.

yes i did, but i threw 1/10 sc tires on a 1/10 truggy so that = 1/10 vehicle.

i guess i can slap on 1/8 tires on my sc since they are the same size?

really weird.

Maybe we need a new thread or take this to the TT thread, but if 1/8th scale tires and SC tires are the same, why can't we run 8th scale tires in SC?

I'm just curious. I have always heard that. There has to be some difference or else why would there be a rule against it?

For the record, I'm for what ever makes 10th truggy grow. It's a new class. The racing does look close and from what I can see, I don't see a huge advantage.

And another thing, isn't the 810 an 8th scale? Or was it converted to a 10th scale?

Again, just curious. I myself am on the fence about this class.

Bro, don't be sorry. I remember a day when your TT (RIP) had SC tires on it...same height, same width, same foam, same tread, same compounds...as 1/8 tires, weird.

lol, what is a 1/10 truggy with 1/8 tires = ?

sorry, but in MY opinion, that's no longer 1/10 scale.
