After looking at both, I think I'd get the Losi. If this class comes 'alive' again, I may buy one............of each! HA! lol

It's so tempting! But I think I'm going to focus on my buggies. If K makes a truck, maybe I'll bite.

At first glance, I'd say Losi has a winner and AE has a big question mark. I think AE may actually be suffering from Durango-like overengineering on this one. Three-piece tub composite chassis? Belt-drive? De-coupled slipper? Front clicker? Four things I've never had on any of my 10 or so RC cars I've owned.

I do think they listened when people asked for durability:

"Thick suspension arms, heavy-duty rod ends, 3mm hingepins, and large 32-pitch gears make fore a heavyduty platform.?

They also are using 13mm shocks. It's certainly no SC44 based on the B44 like some people expected.

I'll probably get the Associated truck, but only because my other 5 trucks are Associated and it looks really interesting. I hope I don't regret not getting the Losi.

Let's get the 4x4 SC class going again!

... now what do I do with my RC8BeSC104X4? Convert to 1/10 truggy? Hmmmmm.

Unlike Jerry, this ship is finally getting out on the water for me. Ofna/Jammin SC trucks are just 6lb bricks. Don't get me wrong, you can put another 400.00 into it to make drive like it should. Now that ship has sailed with me. Losi, AE...It's going to be good bro. 4x4 SC will be back in action.

This reminds me of the MR4TC and buggies it was based from. Touring car design here.
Really?

Posting from a guy on rctech. Sounds good to me.

"One of the reasons, probably the main one, for the belt drive, is due to the resulting motor & driveline orientation, and its impact on the chassis when accelerating and decelerating due to the conservation of angular momentum.

When the motor is either accelerating or decelerating it results in torque reactions in the chassis. When the motor shaft runs front to back this reaction causes the chassis to want to lean to one side or the other. That can lead to traction differences side to side, thus causing the vehicle to effectively turn a little, not good. Also causes the chassis to lean to one side or the other when changing speed in the air, in the same way one can adjust the nose up or down with the throttle on a typical 2wd.

Despite what had been posted earlier in this thread when the subject came up, this occurs regardless of which side the motor is on, or which way it points, front or back. The only issue is the orientation of the axis.

The belt drive allows the motor shaft to be mounted laterally in the chassis, same as the wheels. Thus greatly reduced side to side torque reaction, which helps keep the steering neutral and stable. Better over jumps too.

The overall magnitude on the vehicle is impacted by the other rotating inertias. Larger wheels will tend to dominate, thus with 1/8 scales it’s not so noticeable or as much of a concern. On touring cars it can be far worse, as the tires/wheels are much lower in inertia, thus the motor & driveline become far more significant."

I'm actually super excited to check one out. Someone on rctech said something that I agree with though..."looks like a over engineered mess to me". I agree. You guys goatta look at the pics of this thing. It looks like a pain in the ass to work on.

I think people mistake the fact that a chassis is not metal that its not stout.I have a feeling the SC truck from AE will change that misconception. The belt thing is interesting and the reasons given are sound. The 32 pitch gears are insurance for a drivetrain that will have alot of load on it.With 3 high quality kits coming out from Losi,AE and Durango, everyone will forget the others quickly. for 269.00 for the kit,I think trying one when they come out will be fun. 12mm hexes! Thank you!
Really?

The Losi looks stout. It's based off the Ten-T. Just different body mounts and bumpers.

The AE looks a little...lets say not so stout. 3 piece composite chassis, belt drive. the CG is super low though. 12mm hexs, all metric hardware. They have changed a few things with this design. Some good some will need to be tested. The gears look to be 32p, weird. It is going to have some crazy corner speed. I can't wait to try...Johns.

We will see. I thought the SCRT10 and HyperSC were ok.Handled like flying bricks. Similar to the HyperTT. Everyone has noticed that Seans Losi converted truck is leaps and bounds better then the Hyper truck. This will be the same for the Losi and the Associated 4x4 SC.Handling and setup will be light years ahead.I will probably get the A/E to try it out.

Did anyone see the new 4x4 SC trucks that A/E and Losi are coming with? Finally! none of that Hobao stuff.Real race gear. Will this actual get the class going? We will see. The Losi and A/E look good. But it may be a little too late.
Really?

The wife and I are taking a tour or the birthing center at Washington tomorrow. I have no clue on how long it takes and what is involved. If all works out, I'll be out there tomorrow at some point.
