I was there for one of the combined race days and I thought it was brilliant and John and the guys had the day flowing very nicely. I was racing on the 1/8th track and thought the conditions were great, very high bite in the racing line, I myself don't spend much time out of the racing line so I am not sure how the outside line was working for some racers lol ........

Seeing the other racers battling in there respective races is part of what makes going to the races fun for myself and I am sure many other racers.....

I can understand that it is hard to run strong in the combined 1/8th gas and electric class, maybe calling the race as to classes running at the same time, calling out leaders of each class, nitro and electric and the nitro guys can keep racing for the full 20 minute main.

I am sorry to point this out but, if there was only 5 or even 10 guys running nitro on the combined race day, I can't see how there would be "allot" of people complaining about the combined race day at the NR race. That is simply not a reasonable statement.

hmmm... I overheard that more guys will continue racing at Norcal since there are mixed classes. In fact, there is another class coming...... 1/10 truck! (hint!)

I was running 8th ebuggy this past winter along with SC. Now I decided to give the 8th a break and try onroad and SC (since it's so popular and affordable). Who knows? Maybe run 8th nitro buggy and onroad?

The point I'm trying to make is this place called Norcal is AWESOME! Run what you brung! Any 5 makes a class.

RC5150. Spread the word. We have worked on the 1/8th and arent running the onroad with offroad. As racenut siad it was a special instance. The 1/8th track just got a huge cosmetic makeover.

I love Norcal! I also think that it's great that there are mixed classes so everyone that brings a car can race. They try their best to satisfy everyone and not just the classes that you mentioned. That is sad that people don't want to race at Norcal anymore just because Norcal was being nice by allowing as many people to race.

Anyways I'll be racing at Norcal this Saturday. I'm going to bring my 1/10 2wd mod truck. Who else is down!?

Unfortunately,we can't justify running a 20-25 minute main event for 5 guys.a Full main is another thing. It's not fair to the 20+ other guys running e 1/8 buggy to marshal that long.Norcal has provided a very nice venue, comparable to any other in northern California and after the Norcal series,we got very little support from any of those racers again. If more showed up,we would show them the exact same support we give to classes like Short Course who truely support the facility. The mixed day was a last minute thing because we had the Reedy Race and very little time to run onroad days.It was 2 heats BTW.So what was the harm? It's unfortunate that you would come on here and stir the pot like that. You can't fault Norcal for anything other then trying to accommodate you guys.If you guys want longer mains, feel free to bring more then a couple friends and we will have at it.Our plan was to have a 1/8 only day,but until this day,not enough gas guys have showed back up to warrant that.Like you said,to each his own.
Really?

None taken Joe, my comment wasn't to be offensive. I just heard many in the pit areas commenting. Again, I still plan on racing there, although I do think the mixed classes of on-road and off-road, then 1/5th scale just is too much for a single race day at that track(referring to the last time they raced off-road). The mains get even shorter once the classes Nitro/Elec get combined. No worries, to each his own......

No offense intended 5150 but....

  • I personally have been very happy with the Norcal Track EVERY time I've been there.
  • I do not mind the Combined days.
  • I did not witness any negative talk regarding norcal at the Novarossi Challenge.

Matter of fact, there's probably going to be a group of us out at Norcal this weekend!  W00t!

I see NORCAL is having a race. Good deal, although I too am not to happy about all the various classes that run. I overheard alot of racers at the NOVAROSSI Challenge say they will not be racing NORCAL anymore due to the mixing of the classes, especially the 1/5th and the on-roads on the same day. Thats unfortunate, although I kinda agree with them because the last multi class day, the 1/8th scale track wasn't maintained or even watered. It seems as if the only classes that matters is the SC and On-Road classes.

Mario seems like Bow Ties, Barcodes and Holeshots seem to do alright out there.

I know the AKA enduros are working for the sc trucks, have not tried them on a buggy yet, but I am thinkin they would be good.

Hello Norcal racers. I have been out of the racing scene since the mid 90's. The last time I raced off-road cars was when there was an indoor off-road track in Milpitas, forgot what it was called. Anyways I'm working myself back into the hobby and recently bought a Kyosho 2wd buggy. The kit did not come with tires and was wondering what brand and model tires you folks are running at Norcal. Appreciate the help.

Thanks, Mario

lol...yeah. Its a starting point.I run a 5.5-6.5 on the bigger track but would imaging the 7.5 would be plenty especially since your starting out and the track is small.
Really?
