>>Also how did Castro do? Snapped a rear axle in the main. Was probably already fractured from all the hardcore 2-lap racing. The Slash is not indestructible after all.

Ahh, sorry to hear that. It was cool to see him tear it up on the qualifiers with his 13.5 motor!!!

Castro has the Protrac suspension with 10mm longer arms but he used the stock wheels which didn't remove the extra 10mm. It ran good but it was extra wide and I guess it put more stress on those rear axles.

He should put the new 4x4 rear axles if he's going to run them wide like that.

>>jang -No joking, I'm going to start working on my rig this week!!!

Jang, put down the welding torch and show up for a race or at least a 2-lap main session. Most of the learning happens in battle, not on the mad scientist table. Still I'd love to see what you come up with!

regards, fc

>>zorg - Francis, planning on riding up Mission Peak tomorrow night, and maybe Soquel Thursday morning. I guess that means wed afternoon at Norcal. Let's see how it all plays out.

I'm good with Wednesday afternoon, around 4pm. Bring it everybody. Snow white, can we at least borrow your body and dangle it on the straight so we have motivation?

>>mecam - I think the 2-lap SC schooling from Francis is giving me bad driving etiquette. I may need to drop out for a while.

Mecam... you are in detention. You miss the point of 2-lap mains which is to learn to run away from contact. Be afraid. At the very least, get the hitting out of your system. That's why in all my race runs, I haven't touched a single car!! It was cool in Stock Slash. I knew these guys were going to hit me... but I was like Ninja.

Badger, thank you for the custom CNC'd weights for the Slash. They are soo purdy.

Castro and Sean, let's meet up on Wednesday or leave my stuff at the front counter.

>>racenut - I say we give it till June and then take a vote on the motor limit thing.

Fine by me. Thank you for considering

Roger that, had I know I had a blown bead on a brand new tire/rim I would have yielded to anyone coming up on me. I didn't realize it because the car was still fast as hell down the straights and in right hand corners. Just didn't put 2 and 2 together during the race.

With the progression of SC racing happening right before our eyes, the open chassis/hybrid chassis rules should allowing home brewed 2wd rigs such as the x-factory sc rig.As long as it fits the sc RULES, wheel base, tires, batteries, motor limits. Its fine.Jang have at it!

As far as an open motor Limit, lets keep it at 10.5 for now guys. Lets let the class grow before we ruin it.The racing is close and fun.Any more speed and its going to get hectic.Let some of the less experienced guys catch up in speed.I will say there are maybe 3 guys who I feel could handle the bump in speed that an open motor class will bring.I say we give it till June and then take a vote on the motor limit thing.

Really?

>>My blown right rear bead was the cause of my rig being squirrely in some of the corners. You hit me three times in the same corner until I spun out, that is the definition of hacking.

Three times?!?  As soon as we colided ONCE you were parallel to my bumper and I just bull dozed you off of me.  Ok, the bull dozing is uncalled for, my appologies.  I was taking out several times by an HPI bodied car so that's why I didn't stop and kept going and thinking that was the same driver.

>>LMFAO! Are you serious? You were faster then me because of my blown tire bead. I can hold my own on that track, there are currently 3 guys that have put me a lap down while racing the last couple weeks and that is BigJ, Blair and Hicks, and if they or anyone is putting me a lap down then I actually pull over to let them go since I have no chance in battling them if they are putting me a lap down.

I never said you were slow.  What I meant is if you see a car coming up fast on you because your car is broken and you jump back in line, there will definitely be a collision.

Anywho, lesson learned.  I'll see you at the next race. ;-)

mecam>>Badger, I was rounding fast inside and saw you with a squirly rear end on the outside, maybe due to that blown tire bead, and somehow you managed to get back inside before I passed you and that's where we colided. I was trying to hold my position and so were you, no intentional hacking at all.>>

My blown right rear bead was the cause of my rig being squirrely in some of the corners. You hit me three times in the same corner until I spun out, that is the definition of hacking.

mecam>>Like Hicks said, if a faster car is coming up on you, don't block their line. It'll only hurt each >>others lap times.>>

LMFAO! Are you serious? You were faster then me because of my blown tire bead. I can hold my own on that track, there are currently 3 guys that have put me a lap down while racing the last couple weeks and that is BigJ, Blair and Hicks, and if they or anyone is putting me a lap down then I actually pull over to let them go since I have no chance in battling them if they are putting me a lap down.

mecam>>LOL, unintentional hacking happens from time to time with offroad SC Racing. It's just the nature of it, even in full scale. I've even been put on my lid several times by Snow White.>>

I completely agree but even as you said at the end of the day, you thought I was someone else that took you out and that is why I got hacked. And if this were full size racing you would have been black flagged for that move and been pulled in for a stop and go.

I'm all for bumper to bumper or door to door racing and understand people make mistakes, I make them myself. Jon mentions this in every drivers meeting for a reason. I don't hold grudges and I'm looking forward to the next race/battle with 4 good tires.

francismtbr>>What is everyone's 2-lap main weekday schedule this week? I can head out there one of these weeknights. Is there a late closing day? We really need one since it stays bright out til 8:30 these days.

How's the rain treating the track? I'm assuming today's a no go with the afternoon rain.>>

I packed up my rig this morning and am ready to head out this afternoon but I think the rain is going to shut us down :(

Racenut took a quick glance at his car, laughed and gave him the green light to race in open class.  I did tell him he can't use metal bumpers and side nerf bars.

Dang, forgot about the tires.  My Bowties used to last a very long time when I was running a ramped 17.5 and now only two race days with the 10.5.  I'll wait & see how guys run with an 8.5 before I commit to spending another $80 for a motor.

>>What was the reasoning for the 10.5 limit in Open Class in the first place?

I believe the reasoning at the time was "it's all these 2wd trucks can handle".

I believe the game has changed now with these new trucks, tires and the new track. We can use the extra power.

Currently, folks are looking for the edge with great ESC's, 50c batteries, upgraded motors to stay on top of the 10.5 game.

I'm all for open motor in Open SC.

whoa! i just thru out a number , i don't have any issues with having a no motor limit in open class , but mecam has a good point ,track size and truck ability will be challenging after 8.5 turns  can you get the power to the ground? we'll see if we go "no limit". guy's i think 8.5 is the natural progression of where we are heading as a class. but if you want to run what you brung, then get them' mamba's out!!!!!!! and you're wallet cuz you WILL be buying tires every 2 heats!
