Jerry I'm back to my Mamba monster.  I'm still on the fence whether I'm going to keep the SPX8 when I get it back or try something else.  I prefer to run sensored but options are limited until Tekin gets their issues sorted out.

I've heard good things about the Xerun speed control.  I might try one.

The older I get the faster I used to be.

I ran a SPX8 for a few weeks and it's a good speed control.  Very smooth.  The only thing I didn't like about it was you can't change the throttle neutral band width or the motor rotation.  On mine as soon as you breathed on the trigger the car would accelerate.  I usually set my cars up with more neutral band so it took some getting used to.  The lack of motor reversing would be an issue with some cars like Jelich's front motor RC8.

If you have a servo that can take 2s lipo voltage like I do then you don't need an external bec.  I just tap into the balance plug to power my receiver.

Mine started cutting out on acceleration and I sent it back to AE for replacement.  First time I've ever had an issue with LRp speed controls but I tend to have bad luck with 1/8 speed controls in general.

The older I get the faster I used to be.

Jake, what makes the SPX8 better then the Momba or the Tekin ESC? I'm looking to buy but I'm unsure of which way to go!     .

The 1/10th track was actin' weird today!  The damp spots gripped like a mutha' but the areas that were drying were flaking up in a new way, like the dirt was turning to ash.  Funny how many different ways the weather can affect a surface.  It wasn't chipping, though, which is great, as all the dirt was staying in pretty much the right place.  Always nice to get some quality time in with this track.  Fingers crossed that the showers will die down by late Friday afternoon, then the surface will be great & consistent for another good race weekend!

Yeah I did not know it was needed either. I thought it was only for big 'roar' events. Now that I know, I signed up.

Thanks for the info. I don't think anyone was trying to 'get over'. When I asked about the membership they said they weren't asked and didn't know it was needed. I didn't know if maybe it wasn't required anymore.

If you race without ROAR you're violating the rules.

I wasn't asked about it till this past week and I've been there for awhile now. I guess with the Nationals coming to town they want all their racers in compliance. They got Roar applications at the store or you can go online www.roarracing.com Prices are reasonable, $25 gives you a year of membership and $10 for each additional family member.

Roar Membership is required at any racing event at Norcal hobbies... The guy taking signups doesn't always ask,but its everyone's responsibility to get it. I would check on the Roar website about the family membership.I believe there is one.
Really?

Is ROAR membership still required at Norcal for club races? Also for the Nor-Cal offroad series opener? Some of our local guys said it wasn't checked last week. Also if it is, is there a family membership? $90 for all 3 of us is steep on top of entry fees.

Yup start @ 1-2 Marco. 18t/stock spur and go from there.Unfortunately a 10.5 is too much for even a modded slash.try a13.5 instead.
Really?

Profile 5 might be too aggressive.  First time I raced a 10th scale offroad last week and I had my Tekin's profile setup like my onroad and it was too aggressive and hard to drive and that's with a ramped up 17.5, which is probably comparable to a 10.5 with an SPX.  Learned a lot running in 2 heats and a main.  The track is small so you don't need a lot of speed so gear down for lots of torque.  Racenut suggested a few things to try and seems more comfortable now.  SC is a ton of fun and I'm hooked.  Will be there Friday to practice.
