For eBuggy I've found both the X2s and the Medium Enduros to wear well. The X2's have a lot more traction than the medium AKA tires though. Once you get to slicks, something soft tends to work best, and you can run just about until the foam shows up. Not quite as fast as tread, but definitely fast enough to have fun and to practice on when the track is blown or swept.

I've been using JConcepts Double Cross for ebuggy. They work well and JC has them marked down and BOGO free. They last about two full race days and I'm not the smoothest driver.

I'll order a couple sets of the Road Rage to try out. I'll let you all know how they work out.

The whites wear faster then mx compound even. Bring on the sugar IMO. Wish they would pour 50pounds of it on the indoor track.. pink beams last months on that low bite.

i tried a set of front white barcodes for 4wd buggy. they didn't last nearly as long as X2 scrubs.

Chris: I recall yesterday that we got afew sets of White J-Concepts in. The tires are on the very top hook on the leftside of the J-Concepts tire selection. Not sure if they were rears or fronts though.

I'm fine, I like the sugar track and I like outdoor racing as demonstrated by me being there week after week, lol. I only mentioned it because in real life, at the track, other racers "complain" about tire wear and Chris was looking for something that would last longer. I wasn't trying to reignite a fire. You gotta pay to play. I gave my input, x2's, for me, last the longest with good traction. Want them to last longer? Don't drive as aggressive =P .

Happy medium depends on what class you're running too. What may feel great for ebuggy or sc 4x4 may feel loose to a mod buggy guy. Norcal and delta indoors seem like a good compromise. But outdoor the trend is sugared tracks for various reasons. IMO a track that eats a set of tires in one heat is too abrasive, no matter how good traction is. As long as I can get 2-3 runs on a set of tires I'm good. But not everyone is serious about racing or has the $ and I can understand why tire wear is an issue for them.

The older I get the faster I used to be.

I asked what people have found through their experience as a "happy medium" for good traction and low tire wear.

That was not a discussion just a quick rant between a few. It's all done. Or is it?

Hasn't this discussion been brought up before? last person who said this this flamed so bad. Now it comes up again and it s fine? how come no one chimed in the last time and stated their opinion?Yes, sugar track will eat up tires some more than others, its the cost of racing. some rather have a ton of traction opposed to none. its going to be the new norm for most outdoor groomed tracks, get used to it.

Kevin&Chris, check out my add in the classifieds. Personally,I always used medium to hard compound tires and they were never the best tire to run outdoors, but they would last me a month or two so that was always nice. Sugared tracks-people happy due to lots of traction, people unhappy due to lots of tire wear. Non sugared, loamy tracks-people unhappy due to little traction, people happy due to none-little tire wear. Seems like there is rarely a "happy medium". Personally, I loved how the outdoor 1/10 track was before the sugar thing took off. It made track maintenance and prep a little more work, but tire wear was never an issue. A lot of traction is great, but it comes at a cost...tires. What's everyone's opinion on a "happy medium" as far as track conditions?

Apples and oranges. Not just an opinion, it's mostly experience!" MANG!!%}. I was not saying anyone was complaining. Mr. Gross you are the one who said "I can see why people complain". I just made a statement about change in off road racing and a general observation how people could get un happy!

http://m.ebay.com/itm/290989281278?nav=SEARCH&sbk=1 Chris, these would probably work well for 1/8 ebuggy. They are hard to find but still out there if you look.

The older I get the faster I used to be.

I have heard plenty of people complain about the tire thing. For some, it makes racing every weekend cost prohibitive. I know Chris was not complaining I was just making an observation. Saying tire expense is "nothing in off road" well that's like your opinion man. =)

Hot bodies has the proto tire with big blocks that work well in most conditions.

Jake, I'm not complaining about the track, just looking for a better tire solution. I'm sure I could probably just use the bald X2s I have by changing rear springs and camber links.

I'm not sure why this set went so fast. The last couple sets of X2s I bought lasted a couple weekends. I honestly don't see why the Road Rage wouldn't work with the condition of the track lately. I have a set for my ebuggy and they hold up pretty well on the street. Hernandez suggested I look for tires with big tread blocks and medium or hard compounds for ebuggy. The Road Rage are the only tires I have found that fit that description for 2wd buggy.
