I bet the secret is VHT is added to the root beer when no one is looking. VHT doesn't mix well with dirt and much harder to keep consistent and also harder to clean the asphalt. We also need to go about 60mph to need the use of VHT.

Just curious, how many 2 liter bottles are required to spray the track for typical race day?

I believe VHT does bad things to the track asphalt over time, and is probably more expensive too.

Please note: I said "The BEST". A&W can be had for a dollar at any Wal Mart. Other Root Beers will suffice but please pay attention to sugar content for best results.

The cost would dictate what is used. Can the different types brands be mixed?

I will look at the dollar store for the A&W root beer.  If they have the cheap regular root beer is that ok?  What should we do?  My thinking is I dont want to show up Sunday to wait for everyone to pitch in then wait for someone to go get all of it!  Maybe we should all get some and bring it that morning!  Any thoughts!

Water and sugar mix is not stable. In order to get it mixed properly and not have it dry out and granulate on the track is to mix sugar with HOT water and adds some corn syrup to it to make it stabilize.

The PITA factor is high....

small question, why not just buy a bag of sugar, mix with water and spray onto the track? it's 10lbs for less than $6 in walmart. 10lbs = 4535.92g, there are 30g sugar in every 240ml of root beer. Thus 10lbs of sugar is about 36.28 Liters of root beer. about 18 of those 2L bottles, for around $6?

The best root beer (sugar content wise) is A&W Root Bear. Many generics have less sugar content than cola so be aware of the sugar content before you buy.

FWIW...

For Sundays practice day.  Can we just get any root beer or does Eric want just a certain kind used?  Asking cause there is a dollar store near my work and was going to see if they have some.
