Boy John your not old enough but before computers     We would race.then sit down and hand count cars then turn marshel, the hand counting would be a pice of paper and a pen and you would put a check mark every time that car come around and after the time run out one guy would shout STOP and everyone stoped on the track and the people counting cars would mark down where you stoped on the track. A result would look like this Tim 34 lap and 3 points each point would be a turn from the start line.

The next system we had 10 timers that all started at once and every time a car come by you put down the time-----lap 1 11-----lap 2 23----and so on till you had the last lap

next we had a PC and two people at it counting like John stated one pussing numbers and one calling car numbers you had no idea who was winning till the race was over. the next step was it would show what car number was leading

Now we have little boxes that do it all for us.

Tim,

Thanks for the results and having timing and scoring.

The lap systems today we take for granted are incredible.. back in the early days, cuz the cars were so slow we use individual stop watches and hand scoring.

Sometimes a race director  would have a helper call out the  numbers as the went by and the race director would punch it in the pc.

(plenty of fights ensued as well..)

Just's got a message from Eric V to do some kind of speaker system at NorCal???

If so, we'll need to remove all the carpet/pit area and rent a scissor lift to run wires and speaker mounting.

...if anyone can relay this message, thanks~

well there's less entries in ramping in mod, so there are less people in those classes. MOD tends to have more experienced drivers.

Thanks. I don't want to be touched. Is there a class where the racing is cleaner?

If I want to start racing 1/12 with a 17.5NR. What would be the class for me at Norcal?
