Scroll down for USGT rules. It uses 21.5 motors for the class.

Which SP 17.5 motor is it? Hopefully it is adjustable timing, the fixed timing ones are a bit down on power. Not saying you need the latest and greatest for 17.5 sportsman but there are big performance differences between certain motors.

17.5 TC follows roar rules. As long as you have a ROAR approved sedan body, blinky ESC, and motor, 1380g weight minimum, you should be good. Bring your buddies out, you all don't need to have all your gear sorted out right away. They are able to run in the rookie class. We haven't had too many new faces at the on-road races in a while.

Perfect because im picking up that speed passion esc+17.5 combo. Can you elaborate what the USGT and 17.5 rules are? Thanks man. I might have a few buddies also interested in racing. I might just go for the sakura ultimate and call it a day haha...

It is all outdoor at Norcal Hobbies. Typical popular classes are 17.5 touring car, USGT, and Formula 1. To a lesser extent, there is VTA, mod touring, and nitro touring car which is not as popular.

If you're starting out, USGT is great speed-wise to start with and not too expensive after initial investment. Its a really competitive class so you will need a good motor still. The tires are inexpensive and last, and you get a ton of selection for bodies. The chassis choice isn't absolutely critical so your Sakura will do just fine, just might want to carry a few front end spares.

17.5 TC is faster, but at the Sportsman level, as long as you drive clean lines and don't crash, you will do well.

I'm all about it! I've been going out of my mind waiting for on-road to start again, and even though it's still a month away, at least there's a light at the end of the tunnel.

Is anyone else going to be running VTA for the TP Cup? My buddy Tony is set to make his grand re-entry into the hobby, and that's what he's got to run.

Also, I'm willing to run 13.5 as well. The Reedy race sounds like a fun weekend!

I would, but I'm so far south that anything past NorCal is kind of far.

I'll go insane if it takes that long. Are you telling me that I'm going to have to focus on my professional life for a few months?! I'll do it, but I won't be happy about it!
