Sorry for being of topic.  Dont mean to hijack the thread.

Francis - DL is pretty crowded even for being in the middle of the week, but fun with the extended hours.   The line for TSM/MWM was about 30 mins @ 10am and was upwards to an hour by mid-day. So go early.  My high score to date is 209,000. could be better   Temps right now are reaching 90s but I heard will be cooler for you when you get here.  youre lucky.  We'll be here tomorrow too.

Yes,  The Orange Dog Racing Team will be attending the Top Gun thanks to John for opening up the mini class to 4wd minis.

Hey Ben, how's the line on for the Toy Story Mania over @ Disney CA? I'll be there Friday and that's the first ride I'm waiting in line for. Hey what's your high score? . Sign up for the on-road Top Gun Challenge!

Marco, just run the WGT since it's what you signed up for but we'll get this 1/12th thing going soon enough. I'm all for running 1S Lipo.

Good luck @ Chico OD

John,  That's the 1/12th classes as per the latest ROAR rules, effective as of (I'm not sure).  I don't think there will be any ROAR races run with round cells any more.  As far as Norcal goes, like I said the track is big enough that 13.5 is do-able for most, it's up to you guys.  My vote is for 17.5 to make the transition easier for the guys running 4 cell 17.5

I won't be there this weekend as we are all heading up to Chico to get some big rug practice in for the IIC.  Next race at Norcal, though, 1/12th is on!!

Thanks Michael, good info. The Novak Smart Boost is a good option I didn't know about. I had no idea that ROAR already had classes that included lipo.  I've been wanting to switch to lipo but I haven't seen alot of 1/12th scales out recently so I put my car away since the last A-main Hobbies race in March.

Francis, I would start with Pink rears and Purple fronts until you know there is enough traction, especially with the GenX 1/12th.  If the bite is good you will need more steering and then Magenta or Double Pink is the right tire.  Too much front tire and your car will act loose in the rear, not fun.

One Cell lipo in the 1/12th cars works great.  You will have an easier time installing a 1 cell setup in a link car over a t bar car, I set up my OD12 (tbar car) and it is money.  I don't think it will be competetive on high bite carpet but it sure worked well this last weekend at GP (ask Tim C)  You can use a reciever pack or a voltage booster.  I use the Novak Smart Boost, it has worked flawlessly from the beggining.  One cell cars are so much lighter than 4 cell cars that they wear the tires a lot less and have a bigger set-up window.  If anyone needs help setting their car up email me or see me at the track.

ROAR classes for one cell 1/12th are:  Stock-17.5, Super Stock-13.5, Modified-Open

It sounds like from John's post that they want to run Super Stock at Norcal.  This is fine on the big Norcal track but even there most guys making the transition would be better off running Stock, in my opinion

Thanks John. I'll try that combo out some time for 1/12th. I read SMC has a newer 4900 1S 3.7v pack coming out. 1/12th is fun. I kind of miss carpet. I got a potential new Norcal customer that's also interested in starting on-road and he really likes pan cars.

As for TC I think I'll do my usual 17.5 and try out 13.5 TC for the first time. Any more classes I would be stressed out . I like to relax on race day too.

Oh, yeah I have to sign up for the TOP Gun still...

I'm running 17.5 for TC. I am curious about the lipo thing  too for both my 12 scale & WGT cars. I figured I would ask OD, Crashby, Tim or somebody about it this weekend. But 4 this weekend I will be using my old nimh's in my WGT. I would run my 12 scale too but I figured out 3 cars in one day is to much for me to try and race so I will stick to 17.5 TC & WGT

"watchin' the game havin' a bud...true true..." Hey Marco are you doing 17.5 or 13.5 for TC? I haven't been to an on-road track since the Reedy.

Thanks rccarmaverick, I'll keep a look out for that tire traction stuff for foam tires. Also has anyone tried running those SMC or Reedy 1s 3.7V lipos in their 12th scales or WGT cars? I would like to transition to lipo but if it's not tested yet for 17.5 I can run my old nimh batteries.

YOYOYOYO Wassabi Francis. No I have not done alot of asphalt racing this year with my CRC's. RCCARMAVERICK is spot on with the tires and traction compound though. He is the man in oval and knows his foam stuff well  The only other adjustments I made from carpet to asphalt was the color of my side springs. I think I went from RED to White? But dont qoute me on that as I am at work and my cars are at home. I know Frank P, Tim C , The Wise Men & Ronny have helped me out a great deal with my 12 Scale & WGT! Thanks guys without you me and my cars would be and remain lost

I will be in the house for slash on saturday & some test and tune for sunday. Sunday I will run WGT & 17.5

Cant wait till this weekend!

Last year two other guys and myself tried running it with double-pinks in the rear and I forget what fronts but we were all breaking loose in the rear. I'll try double pinks up front and pinks in the rear on the Gen X 12 scale. Thanks!

I'll run 1/12th if someone has an asphalt setup for the CRC Gen X 12th scale.

Marco, have you or Frank run the Gen X 12th scale on asphalt? How does it hook up?
