I'm not afraid to make the drive up there on the chance that we can race. I think it's going to be close, but I think we should give it a try!

Right now it's pretty much a run what you brung type or class with few limitations. Looking at the cars running last weekend, everyone was close and on the same pace. Definitely fun to watch and race. I make jokes about the class, but that's just me and everyone knows I'm joking (Like saying it makes calling a race easier as I have a hard time counting past turn 4).  As far as I see it, unless someone comes out and just dominates every weekend, then a rule will need to be put in place to keep the racing tight. But for right now, the class is growing, everyone up on the drivers stand is having FUN, and that's the point.

In my opinion for a class to grow, it has to be fun and the racing has to be tight. And since no one is just pulling away from the pack, and no one is griping, I would say it's fair.

Have fun guys this Saturday. Looks like it should be good track time. I'll see everyone back again for Toys for Tots.

I completely understand what you're saying, but keep in mind that the sprint cars don't have a "fulltime" track configuration. The oval portion is determined once the on-road layout has been configured. That said, its not fair to the DD cars to limit them when the gearbox cars have open gearing on a track that may have different run lines from week to week.

The first few times the sprint cars raced, the gear box cars won. This weekend it was a DD car with the win, and looking at the lap times throughout the day the gearbox cars seemed to be pretty evenly matched. I am sure as the class develops there will be modifications to the guidelines; at this point those of us racing the sprint cars are just happy that were even included in the program.

My past experience with no doubt. A gear box will not out run a D.D.  Out of the turns. You can never come close to the rollout either. So to keep all fair D.D. Should have a set roll out the same as a gear box. and gear box should have open gearing.

Sprint car class is open regarding gear box or DD. I believe the majority of the field this past weekend were gear box. All cars seemed to have pretty equal speed throughout the field

Sprint car class is it gearbox or D.D.  Gear box would be more reasonable. If it's open then its a no brainer a D.D.

The results from Saturday are located at --- >http://www.norcalhobbies.com/saturday-on-road-racing-2/

A
s mentioned in the drivers meeting, we'll be back on for November 22, weather permitting.

December 6th for the next fun race and December 13th is the Toys for Tots race

Sprint Cars - As Jason said, we're running ROAR 17.5 Motors in Blinky mode.   There's no restriction on gearing or tires at this time.

Bawller

I don't think Eric has anything posted just yet regarding our class, This class kinda came about when a few of us asked for it and Eric was open to making it happen; but its been pretty much like this:

17.5 Roar approved motor
ESC in blinky mode
6X6 top wing
Nose wing optional
Foam tires (no spec compound although everyone seems to be on pinks)
gear ratio has been open, seeing as we are being included in the onroad program and their layout has variances, so does our oval dimensions. All racers seem to be ok with it, and really this past weekend all participants seemed to have equal speed on a track that changed throughout the day (in regards to grip)

Had a blast on sunday. I find my tamiya F104 V2 very promising. I had some issues during qualifying but got it together for the race. Setup posted below.  My car did not start to push till the end of the race.

USGT was a blast. Thank you Larry for the rent-a-ride, that car is awesome. Took a round of qualifying to figure out how to drive it, after that it was insane. All I can say is, that car is not all motor. Don't get me wrong, it is FAST, but the corner speed is what makes that car nuts. After driving that car, I now know what my car is lacking. Big thanks to Larry, as it was definitely a learning experience on setup and driving.

My F104v2 setup:

Front Camber: 1.0 Degree
Front Toe: 0 degree
Spindle: Inline
Ball on the spindle is towards the front of the car.
Spring: Silver (soft)
Ride Height: 4mm
Steering Servo is layed down.
Sauced half the front (inner)

Battery forward (shorty pack), esc and receiver at the back.
Top Shock stock with 35wt (associated oil)
Gold Spring on top shock
Side Damper: Grease Tube - I use some grease I used with mini-z called Ruby Lube
Side Springs: Tamiya Pink
Tamiya carbon axle
Rear Ride Height: 4.5mm ( I don't know if I measure my rear ride height correctly. I measure at the front of the pod and the rear of the pod. I also measure at the rear of the main chassis to compare to the front ride height and my findings on the pod.)

There is some stuff that I don't remember like the spacers that raise and lower the axle, but if you have questions feel free to ask, and I'll go look at the car.
