Great season opener for the asphalt.  Kevin and the crew did a great job on the new track layout.  Great flow and the boards were easy on cars.  The World GT cars seemed to hook up well even on the spec tires as long as you stayed in the groove.  RCGT was a lot of fun and hopefully that class will continue to grow.

Huge props to the Norcal crew.  The track and track layout is awesome.  Lots of flow.  The barriers are super forgiving - i didn't break a single part all day.

I had a Tekin RS in 13.5 and a SPX in RCGT.  Both were ridiculously fast.  I'll be voluntarily taking out the SPX in RCGT and putting in the old TC spec to keep things fair.  I'm going to add about a pound of lead in Arlucks car to slow him down.  He killed everyone in RCGT with a TC spec speedo...jeez.

Summary of the Race:

Biggest Failure - John Hicks

Biggest Upset - Joseph Yao

Best Wheel - Kevin Jelich

Biggest Cheater - Me (running a Chevron Bugatti body in 13.5)

Worst Handling Car - Rommel

Both of these speed controls have the ability to turn these ramping features off.If you own one it easy to shut them off.It will be on the honor system. With the spx you could run on anything but mode8 and the RS is set via the hotwire. You can run these speed controls in RCGT,just trying to encourage keeping the ramping programs out of the equation. Its a distinct advantage. This gives those that are building an RCGT right now an oppurtunity to use a speed control they already have.It also gives those that have nothing the option to buy whatever speed control they want.

Had to leave early cause my car was a failure.

Did we discover that the performance gains from the newer generation speedos give a unfair advantage ?

I take it yes and if so are we making an addition to the rules (no timing ramping allowed).

If yes how will this be enforced. (no SPX/Tekin RS speedos allowed) or these functions be disabled) if the functions are to be disabled how will that be enforced ?

Just want to be clear with the rules

Fun day for sure.It made up for the offroad being down for the count yesterday. No worries,we will be back in Business this coming weekend! Joseph Yau.....You are my Hero! Great run in quals and the main. You held me,Martin,Mini,Gowens,Ling and your Homies off in the main and won in style. You deserve it my friend.Fun to be back on the track today.Been awhile.should be a fun season.

RCGT was very cool to watch.Yeah the tires work good.Yes the 17.5 are fast enough to keep this class interesting. But we have made a decision to end up running the D spec X patterns only at Norcal.Other venues will have to make this call.I think for the sake of making the class economical in the sense of taking tires into consideration, and what we have observed from the 8 guys running today, making the D compound  the only tire allowed is a good thing. The D compounds work just fine at Norcal. They will wear better too.Another thing we have observed and that was brought up was the use of the new generation of speed controls.I think the use of the Tekin RS/RS pro and the LRP SPX in this class is not a great way to start here. Most everyone has an older generation LRP,NOVAK,etc lying around. So please take this into consideration when building up your RCGT cars.Did I already mention, these cars look way too cool dicing!

Last it was nice to see people hang out and practice after racing and really having fun.Great turnout for the opener.Hey the WGT cars were even hooked up!What can you say. Thanks to Kevin and Eric for the layout.SICK! See you all in 2!

It was good to see all the sedan guys today! Many guys I haven't seen in 4 months! The new layout feels like a roller coaster. Jelich went koo koo for carousels. The S turn in front of the drivers stand is the best section I have driven in awhile. On-road guys should be very thankful for the nice tracks we have access to in our area. Sedan racing is going to be strong in 09 some come on out and have some fun. Mod sedan is the "let's seperate the elite from the men" class. I forgot how quick and precise you have to wheel in Mod WOWSurprised  Defiently started getting my rythm back in the main. Kev, I will try to give you a better run next time out and start pushing you harder for your preperation.....

Kevin & Crew- You guys did an AWESOME job!!! Got my asphalt blood running again. The design was very nice & the bender boards were very car friendly. Can't wait to run again!!! If this does not bring the REEDY Race or the KO RACE or the TAMIYA race out at NORCAL...they are out of their minds!!! Had lots of fun today.

Bill, we will make sure to spray a little wider next times in the areas you mentioned.

Well it looks like onroad is alive and well in The Bay Area. We had a great turnout and great response to the new track. Wait till the green infield gets done and we recess the timing loop. Then it will be perfect.

Track records have been logged and put on the board. Next race lets see if they fall.

Also the onroad track is now open everyday for electric and Nitro practice.

Bill, we will make sure to spray a little wider next times in the areas you mentioned.

Kevin's bender board track barriers are the best yet.  I hit a few times with no damage; except to my ego...

Lots of racers showed today; so, we are off to a nice start.  Would have appreciated the lanes being sprayed a little wider...for my lines...

Who will be the next Matt Francis, Javier Arroyo, Lex Tyler...?
