Sorry, yes I did race carpet TC with the 415, 415MS, and 415msx others constantly at Hobbyworld, Stockton 4-5 times per season), and  2-3 times at Nor Cal. I must have 100+ packs on various versions of the 415 on carpet. So I do have a valid opinion. Just ast EJ, Lex, and Hellahoe's hero Dominic. I was at Hobbyworld as much as they were if not more.

When the racing was good at Hobbyworld, Lex was the guy to beat. Dominic and E.J had decent Tamiya cars....but they had to drive flawless to keep up. Lex's car was better in my opinion.

When Stockton held the nats, a few Tamiya drivers such as Jimmy J and others were in the B. I wasn't there so its hard to say if his car was at a dissavantage, but I wouldn't be surpirzed if he was a bit.

Tamiya's focus is on Asphalt on-road...not carpet, off-road,etc. Maybe things will change in the future..who knows.

Thats funny Jesse. When I saw you with your 415MSX whatever at S. S.F. last year you claimed that its the first time you ever put your Tamiya on carpet. Then I heard you raced a few times with your pops at Nor Cal on carpet with foam with a few other people such as Lex. All of a sudden you have mad carpet cred.

I messed with that car for 2+ years trying the old suspension, different thicknesses of chassis, different springs, roll center, transmission, posts, no posts, with foam, with rubber, you name it. Meanwhile others just build a carpet car with a setup from AR or Xray and go fast out of the box. My findings are that it really sucks with foam. Its decent with rubber. The 415 original suspension works the best with rubber. The lightweight rev original suspension sucks. E.J. will attest to that as well as he tried it also. Not sure about the Evo 5 reversible suspension as it is shorter. Its not much different from the much stiffer and sturdier origiginal 415 suspension. If you are going to run carpet with a Tamiya I would suggest that as the boards are nasty.....especiallty with foams.

Seriously, lord vadouche should know his roll and stick to trash talking tamiyas in an area he can compete in.

BTW, the 415 MRE took the northwest carpet championships Modified win at stockton in '06 driven by none other than Jesse Stark.  TQ was Dominic Favorito...with a 415 MSX!  There were more Tamiyas at that race than any other car and I have the picture to prove it.  I can't remember if A-yo TQ'ed 19 turn but if he did it was with an MRE as well. retty sure he tq'ed or was at least top three.  I do remember him kicking a lot of a$$ with that car all season long.  Jerry Stark got some serious wins in stock all season long--proving that the 415 line of car is a deadly instrument at all levels and power classes.  Hell, I even top threed more than once.

"Seriously, Tamiya cars aren't that great on carpet. I suggest a Associated or Xray if you are serious about carpet. Sure Marc Reinhart can go fast on carpet, but thats because he knows more about tuning and driving."

Yours Truly, Aaron Biner

If a car is fast on asphalt, guess what......it's fast on carpet. Aaron have you ever raced carpet before? I'm not sure were you been over the past 3 years, but Juan and myself have some of our best credentials with a 415 on carpet.  The 415mre is a straight up murderer on carpet, end of story. No need to buy another car.

Chris, the best thing you could do is take down my e-mail and ask Tamiya questions that way. I'll be happy to answer any questions or give set-up advice anytime.

I appreciate all of your input.  I know it wouldn't matter too much if I were actually running Reinhardt's car.  I wouldn't be able to outrun minimod, maybe Biner though  As far as another car, don't need to worry about that.  There will be another eventually, there always is.  I'm not too serious about racing carpet, or really anything.  It's all for fun.  Thanks.

Oh yeah.  How about a xxxs on carpet?

ps.  I only ran 1/2 qual (broke) and the main with the Tamiya, ever.  Zero practice.  I had the fastest lap in sportsman, but still finished two laps behind the leader.

Seriously, the guy is just trying to have fun and Biner has to put his spin on it. Im sure Chris is running out to the store to get another car now that you dissed his Tamiya because he's not Marc. Stick to the Ask Vader thread for this tripe.

The rest of us can't get all of that stuff.

Chris that setup will be close...diff adjustment will play a big factor and tire prep...make sure your side walls of the tire are glued well to the rim.  good luck

Here is the plan for Saturday guys.We will be racing outdoors on the offroad track. We will also have the indoor track set up for indoor 18th scale offroad practice and tune session.Kevin and I are at the track now and the outdoor surface looks really smooth because of the recent rains. He also has a sump running to drain off the excess water near the outdoor track for the next day.Tell a friend we will be racing outdoors and you guys will have the oppurtunity to run practice on the indoor carpet with your 18th scales and slashes if your not already running outdoors.Come break in those new holiday presents!See you saturday!
