Ok......not to bring up that Sacramento is a bubble for offroad racing, because it is or was.You have to look at the big picture.Anyways, enough of the off topic nonsense please.

We need a general thread for the types of topics some people bring up.These long ramblings and dissertations are all well and good, but are a little off topic in this thread.

I read somewhere that there are grassroots effort to bring 1/8th scale 2WD brushless racing. As you know, 1/8th scale started with 2wd until Kyosho brought the Fantom into the game. 1/10th scale touring car needs a rebirth just like the 1/10 Off-road. All the manufacturer got greedy and there went the prices of the "real" touring cars.

I think the only way touring be back is when someone gutsy enough to come up with a Lipo spec car where the weight distro is not an after thought then sealed it with ROAR/IFMAR/EFRA approved/sactioned/standarized seal. On top of that, Lipo safety guidance and pricing (lower without sacrificing safety) need to be improved to a level where a rookie can afford to run and maintain it. The moot point for the (tightly) budgeted racers is why do I want to run Nimh when your fellow (half a season ahead) racer is running Lipo but I can't afford to buy (nor do I have safety space) lipo stuff that he/she has.

This is where 1/10 offroad and soon to be 1/8th scale electric offroad comes in because they will drive the cost of the electronics down to the point where Nimh equipment was. I think in the next two or three years, it would normal to find a (true) 40C 5000mah Lipo pack for under $50, brushless ESC+motor for $100 (sensored for $125-$150) and a Lipo ready car for $150 but you will be as competitive if not better than the $250-$300 car that we have right now.

Will people get tired of electric off-road? Absolutely not. The 1/8th scale electric will carry that torch for awhile even after the 1/10 offroad died down again. Even 1/10th scale offroad won't die quick. The manufacturers are smarter this time around to design something that sustainable and relatively cheap to maintain even when you tend to break parts a lot.

I still remember when my spareparts for my old school Tamiya cost $xx instead of the $x for my durga now. Even my Kyosho parts are mostly $x. That's cheap. The only problem lately is availability but if you stock up, you are safe. You can't do that in the past because there goes your lunch & gas money for the week just for the arms set that you broke the previous weekend.

It's amazing that two years ago I was running touring again yet at the same time waiting for revival of off-road. I was getting bummed and burnt for trying to keep up with the rest of sportsman racers with the bigger budget. Who always seemed to beat you for the first shipment of a new type of battery batch while you're stuck with stick packs. Now, I'm not worried so much with Off-Road. I can already tell that I am spending way less than two years ago and will be doing so for the rest of my hobby career...unless I got really good and sponsored (yea rite!).

Its really amazing if you think about it. 2 years ago everyone was on-road and carpet crazy. Off road wasn't even a thought. A little over a year ago it all changed. Fat man Hicks, Romel, his slave helper Mel (in his dirty ass uniform), and others I can't name  got together and built the first version of the off road track. The rest is history . On-Road has taken a crap in the area since that point. It really makes me wonder if 2 years from now if people will be tired of off-road or not. If you are waiting for massive progressions in 2wd/4wd/truck off road 1/10 scale.....I doubt it. Not alot has changed in 2wd/truck during my 11 year absence from electric off-road. In that time, the B4 managed to only get a little bit longer suspension arms, longer front shocks, longer front tie rods, and a plastic wing mount. Will people get tired of electric off-road? Will On-Road Elec. Touring car come back in this area? Share your thoughts...

So how do we turn marshal if we can't step on the track? I can see turn marshaling on the sides, but what if someone get caught in the middle portion?

Enough of the asphalt talk for now....New layout is in.Thanks to Kevin for the new boards,Tim Copp,Romel,Hernandez, and anyone else I may have missed who helped. Please do not run your offroad cars on the carpet track. No exceptions.I should have the carpet track ready for use by about 4pm if anyone is interested in getting some track time tomorrow.Track will be open on Saturday for practice but the offroad guys will get preferencial treatment when it comes to indoor pit space.I will warn one last time.Any Offroader who steps on the carpet track for ANY reason, will be asked to leave for the day.Be considerate please.

Doesn't that track get more traction at night? Is that because of the cold? Sauce? Or mist? Or all? Would a prepped winter track have crazy traction? Who knows? We would have to prep it to find out.

The cold doesn't bother me

I just don't like having to change all of my setups to run on carpet.
