If Chris' car was banned from racing then I would be extremely happy. Just saying!

This is my two cents. Now keep in mind I'm in the hospital and gorked. Lol.

First I totally agree with Kevin and Brendt. It's the driver. However, what used to get me going was the amount of drivers running ramped on esc. It's the main reason I run mod, it takes all the worrying of cheating out of the equation. I agree that the top three finishers should be brought in to see if they are in blinky mode.

I don't even run the class and I think all this motor crap is a waist of time and a waist of money if it was decided to go by Roar rules. The middle of the season when all the money is spent is not the right time to do this. It's club racing, not nationals. Chris is just fast, smooth and willing to take risks a lot of us chicken out of... That triple being one of them. All it takes is one slip and he can be out of a race trying to gain time in the triple. Good, consistent drivers make a good race and close race. Not the motors in the cars. I have a 13.5 in my stadium truck in a class where most run 8.5 and 6.5... I can still manage a second or third by not crashing and doing my job as a racer. Motors arent the key factors in winning races... It's the driver.

IMO if you're going to ban a motor for club racing under roar rules then all rules should be followed and teched for the class. Anyone tearing down motors and checking rotor diameter? How about battery temp? This is club racing not a national. Chris is kicking everyone's butt with an orion motor that is clearly not the fastest down the straight. There was someone else running last weekend whose car looked like a mod on the straight. A good battery and driving with a well set up car makes more difference than whether you are running a d3.5 or hobby wing.

The older I get the faster I used to be.

Hopper,

Being beat by these motors really isn't an issue. We have all been running them for months now. There are several of us that are not running them and there are people winning without them. It really hasn't been that big of an issue. Just because ROAR decided to ban them does not make these motors any different. They are what they are and have been from the start. I personally would not care if I got beat by one of these motors as I did this past race at Delta. I am producing just as much if not more horsepower with other motors anyways.

I just feel that with all the money that has been spent by all of the racers on these motors that it would be a travesty to not allow them to run them. Most racers can not afford to keep dropping $100 every month on motors. Let them run them. This is club racing. Not a national event.

The car that is kicking everyone's ass isn't even running one of these motors. Josh is running one and I am not. Jason Smith has been running a Trinity as well. For the most part - I doubt any of us would care.

Jesse Stark is running a Team Powers and I am running a Reedy.

Not trying to get crazy here. Just trying to create some sollutions to this problem that ROAR has created.

In no way do I think that Delta is to blame or should be rediculed for this problem. I just hope that you guys make the right decision.

I'll speak with Kraig about a possible grace period for racers effected by this and will let you know. I personally wouldn't feel right being beat by one of these motors. Put yourselves on the other side of the situation.

After a great deal of consideration the ROAR Executive Committee has determined that the Trinity D3.5 motor and others based on the D3.5, do not comply with the organization’s required specifications for motors in the 17.5 stock class. The determination is based on the fact that motors being sold are built with wire that’s larger than maximum specification permitted. All of the random samples of the D3.5 based motors during the announced compliance checks tested with wire that’s larger than the maximum dimension. Rule 8.8.4.3.1 states clearly that “The three slotted stator must be wound with 17.5 turns of 2 strands of a maximum diameter of 20AWG or 0.813 mm per slot. A diameter of .813mm is the nominal measurement of 20AWG wire, and that it is the stated maximum wire diameter permitted. It’s on this basis that the Executive Committee made its determination.

It's up to the track owners to make the right decision and allow a grace period. That would be the right thing to do! If the track owners allowed a month or so to get ready for this than most people won't end up with a sour taste in their mouths.

Just my opinion

You are right in that anyone who owns a d3.5 has a bone to pick with trinity imo.

Rumors of this happening have been floating around.

Roar posted this a few months back which tipped people off.

*should have reworded that, they could have given a grace period on the ban, we're racing toy cars no need for the legal today not the next. this isn't every racer's fault and i'll be damned if i have to spend 100.00 just so i can race the next week, a slight grace period or early warning would have been nice...

How can they fix the wire that is too big in the 17.5 I have laying on my workbench? It would require trinity to resubmit a new stator that is within specs and then it would be no faster than every other 17.5 out there. As of now it's a cheater motor and this announcement proves it. It sucks I know but it's not fair to those who have legal motors to have to race with others that do not. I have one myself. Gonna contact trinity and see what they can do for me.

they could at least give a grace period give trinity time to fix it, no reason we should have to instantly go out and spend 90.00-100.00 on a motor just to run that next week...

we're club racing not going for national titles here.

Here is some footage from the track at Norcal from inside the car. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hTzh1XjKZQ

Skill and set up is the Key in 17.5! Practice! Practice! and then Practice a lot more! If you still cant compete run open class like me! We all cheat in open class!

i do agree with steve i drive way harder then most guys do in 17.5 but my car is legal and like randy said everything has been teched. there is a speed passion speedo in the car nothing special. the real test with that car will be this weekend. steve is taking it to p1 for the freeze race against some really good drivers so we will see how it does. but my car is seriously nothing special. i have lined up with some people going down the straight and there pulling away from me but i am making up time in other parts of the track.
