We are running Eurotruck again this year. It looks like I might even have a spare truck if anyone is interested.

Interested in the VTA class for the upcoming season. I didn't see the Euro Truck mentioned in Gordons post, a fun class but too difficult for me to try and get the truck to handle well. Thanks Ground Pounders.

Thanks Gordon!
I have a 25.5 ROAR motor and I won a set of VTA (protoform) tires at the year end holiday party (thanks GP'ers), so all set there.
I will get a driver and numbers!

Yes, Eric, you must have a driver and numbers on the hood, and trunk, as well as both doors. The tires for the class are Protoform VTA tires sold as individual tire and wheel, no longer HPI tires, I think Jake has them in stock. You can build a set or buy the pre-mounted ones. The motor is a ROAR approved 25.5.

As for the Mini class, it is open 21.5 motor, ROAR approved, Tamiya bodies, TCS tires, and if your running the M07 platform you must run the twenty tooth pinion. Hope to see you at the next meeting, and our first warm up race is the first Sunday in Macrh, weather permitting.

Gordon.

is this the "VTA Website":
http://www.usvintagetransam.com/rules/TransAmClassRules8-30-2017.pdf

-says we must run a driver figure and numbers on hood, sides, etc...
Is that correct?

thanks,

Tuesday night was the clubs first meeting of the new year. We discussed ways to promote the clubs race days, either through flyers or by Facebook. Stay tuned for more about updates on races.
Next, we discussed classes for the season. For oval classes there are six that are our regularly run classes, they are Novice electric oval, 55 Bomber, here's a change Truck was 17.5 will now be 21.5 Truck (with open 21.5 motor) for now, with a new class which is 17.5 Rubber Tire Nascar, after that will be 13.5 Rubber Tire Spec a class the club ran last year, and the Ground Pounders will run 17.5 Winged Spints. The weight for Truck, Nascar, and Spints will be 36oz.
Next, is On Road classes. Starting with Novice Electric On Road, the club will be running Mini but, (with an 21.5 open motor) policy, after Mini will be 17.5 TC, returning to the schedule is VTA running Protoform tires and the rules are on the VTA website, Euro Truck is back, then USGT will be the sixth class, and last but not least Stock Slash.
The race dates are as follows, March 4th will be the warm up race, April 8th is the first point race, May 6th is the second points race, next is June 3rd, then July 1st, the fifth race will be on August 5th, September 9th will be next, and October will have two races, the first will be on the 7th and the final race will be on the 27th and that will be a night race. Feature classes will be discussed at the next meeting in February.
In the past we allowed a racer to enter three classes on that race day, but there was a vote to allow up to four classes on that race day. If you have races that are back to back make sure you have a corner Marshall as your replacement.  We will setup featured classes at the next meeting, so stay tuned. If you have a suggestion for another location in Sonoma that can be used as a race venue, please let us know.
I hope you are working on your car and getting ready for the season. See you soon, and go luck in the up coming season.

Gordon.

AS YOU MIGHT KNOW I DO NOT RACE ELECTRICS.WHY BECAUSE BATTERIES ARE FOR FLASH LIGHTS AND POWER TOOLS. JUST KIDDING.....SO IT SEEMS THAT THERE IS INTREST IN A MOTOR CHANGE IN THE TRUCKS FROM 17.5 TO 21.5.  QUESTION -IS THERE ENOUGH RACERS TO HAVE 2 CLASSES OF TRUCKS? 17.5 AND 21.5 ..IS IT BETTER FOR THE RACERS? KEEP 17.5 FOR CARS ?, JUST IDEAS FOR OUR CLUB MEETING....HAPPY NEW YEARS

So p1 and delta rc both had there test runs with the two class changes over the weekend. P1 had more 21.5 truck turnout and delta rc had more 17.5 car turn out and both were very positive on how cars raced. I’ve talk to Blake after there Saturday race and he was excitied about how good the racing was, with 21.5 truck, Perfect, the racing with 17.5 car was just as good and exciting. At the end of the day the two clubs are trying to work together and keep pan car racing fun, easy to get into and affordable. With that said heard may try bring backing back vta I’m down for that,

Not sure if i'll make it this Tue either, -wife works night shift, ...i'll be coming home from SF and need to pick kids up from sports and have some parent camping trip thing to discuss w/ my son's school.  Juggling way too many things!

But, my youngest son will be joining us this season ...just got his ROAR card in the mail Friday. So now both my sons will be racing (and i'll probably be doing less racing and more helping).

I have this feeling that I have to explain some things with this 21.5 sportsman truck class, if you leave it open then it’s going to be a who can build the most horse power kinda thing. When it should be about learning how to drive clean and tuning the chassis and just have fun racing. There’s not going to be anyone in this group buying hella motors to fine witch one as the lower ir, or some kinda of sponsorship bs not going to happen. Just have fun racing with your buddy’s. Since a lot of us have work to deal with and can’t make it to meeting I just wanted to post up my thoughts.
                                                     Thanxs Cory
