Gordon, -my mistake, I re read the rules you are correct in regards to having to use that reedy motor.

Thanks for clarifying.

The rule says YOU MUST run the Reedy motor no other. I'D like to hear from more of the drivers that are running at Ground Pounders and see what they would like to run as a motor. I think I have a $10 dollar gift card, that would help with the purchase of a motor. I'm also buying two TC kits for the new season, so I will be ready for VTA class and USGT class. So let's hear from Chris D., Art K., Brice, Blake, Michael M. and the rest of you.

Eric,

If i'm interpreting the TCS Mini rules correctly, then the brushed motor is not an option.

"You MUST use the REEDY 21.5 MACH 3 motor for this class."

-I am told that the new Reedy spec motor is just a bit faster than the silvercans, and a good silvercan may be the same speed or very close.  So, there is always the option to run silvercan again, for those who don't want to shell out another $90.

Also, Tower carries the Reedy motor, w/ coupons one may be able to get it for much less than $90.  I've seen many coupons floating around that would make the price less.

.but i'll wait until there is an official decision.

Hopefully the motor will come with the correct rotor and stamped with 273 on it. I would hate to have to buy a rotor and a motor. That would be around $1oo so my car can be leagal. Let's see what the other Mini drivers think about leaving the motor as a ROAR legal or run the Spec Reedy motor.

Frank,

I agree w/ you 100%.
I've spoken w/ a few other members as well and we seem to agree about following TCS rules/level playing field.  You bring up a good point about the added cost and member drop out as a result though--

I'll see if I can make it to a meeting to place a vote, -yet working M-F in SF has made it difficult for me to get to rhonert park at a decent time.

Hey Gordon,

I think we decided to leave it open to any ROAR legal 21.5 motor, though, that may be something we vote on at the next meeting.

I’m a fan of spec racing when there are very limited differences between cars. The motor is a major component with wildly different performance specs across manufacturers. I think that requiring one motor is a good move for the class.

Conversely, it has the potential to hurt participation at our club. Many racers already have a competitive, ROAR legal 21.5 motor from last season. In my mind, it is wasteful to spend another $90+ on something I already have. From a global perspective, Mini is an extremely popular class. I’m concerned that there will not be enough Reedy 21.5 motors to go around.

Hey board members, have you decided to run the Mini class the way it is now or change to the Reedy motor?

I hope someone has reserved the room in the back, unless there's a new location. Hopefully Amy or Matt has already done that. See you soon.

That would be up to the board and the club members wold vote on it in February. I see that Tamiya is allowing bodies from M03, M05, and M05 V2 be interchangeable, that's good. If you have any suggestions, post them and start a conversation.

Hello Gordon,
Great to hear from you ...hope to see you this coming season.

I did read that Tamiya changed the rules for the mini class, -specifically the motor requirement.  Kind of a pain in the butt to have to buy another motor (argghh).
http://www.tamiyausa.com/tcs/tcs.php?article-id=531

-are we going to follow TCS rules?
I am fine either way, just would be good to know prior to the season

Did you sign-up on ROAR's website or did you fill out a form at the track, on race day?

Hi guys, This is Mr. J. I raced with you guys in October and signed up with ROAR. I have not seen my ROAR card and was wondering how long it should take.
