Attention Ground Pounders, Attention, we have a General meeting on Tuesday the 17th to go over the up coming dates which are in conflict with holidays and class changes in both oval and on road. Please try and attend this meeting and voice your opinion on these topics. The club still is meeting at the Terra Vino restaurant in Rhonert Park at 7;30pm. So, pass the word to those who don't follow the Ground Pounders on the RCRacing web site.

The transponders are done! They are halfway through their second charge/discharge cycle. I will run it one more time before our next meeting, which should bring the batteries into their peak performance zone.

Can't wait to start racing again!

Run time ranged from 28-30 hours. Now for a blob of adhesive under the hood and they'll be ready to race.

New batteries fully charged.

AMB20 transponders fully charged

See how they blink!

Now we wait. Any transponder still blinking after 20 hours will be considered good...though they will likely run for 30 hours. After that, I will glue the tops on and the job will be complete.

Spent the day removing transponder batteries.  I cut out the batteries, exposed the battery posts, and ground away the old battery heat shrink & epoxy .  Clearly, this phase of the repair presents the greatest risk of damage.  Fortunately, there was only one minor casualty; the top half of the (+) battery post of BLUE #1 broke-off.  It shouldn't impact the new battery install, though. I'm holding my breath for BLUE #0 because the epoxy chipped unexpectedly over a component below and cause my cutting tool to scrape it. It's just a shallow surface scrape, but it will bother me until I test it.

Here are some pics of my progress so far:
