I'm starting my car at zero as far as toe goes in the rear and I'm probably going to baseline with 9LB springs across the back, in the front I haven't decided if I'm going to start with a laydown or stand up tower, so that will dictate spring choice on the front and possibly change the LR. I'd say the 40/50 on oil is going to be pretty close, maybe a little more if you play with a front swaybar.

Personally I don't like to use toe to tighten the back on the car Like Randy does, I'll go the opposite way sometimes to free it up and run negative toe on the RR to help the car rotate on entry, and use a little more cross to get it off the corner, but I still try to baseline at zero as it keeps the car rolling as cleanly as possible.

Shock oil would be 50/40. Left front castor 0. Right front 10. Springs = lf 10. Rf 12-14. Lr 10 RR 11-12. Rear toe depends on size of track. I would start with -1 on left rear and +2 on RR. Depending on temp and grip level the tires would be purples all the way around or magentas on the left and purples on the right. Ride height should start at 9mm.

Any more questions? Just ask!

I will be running my CW sprint car this year. Without giving out your secret winning formula, could you give me a base setup for running on asphalt. Shock oil, springs, foam tires, ride height, tire size and compound.

I promise it will be our secret, Thanks

I'm gonna make an executive decision and deem 48 oz. to be the weight of our wingless sprints.

...and my bad on the 17.5 sedans...we'll have both ramping (expert) and nonramping classes and both will be featured at the May 6th race.

Gary- novice classes need to also be non boosted, both oval and on-road..roar approved esc\software on list

keep the 17five sedan non boosted for gp club racing, esc\software must be on roar approved list .

we don't even check weight at our bigger dirt oval races, all the cars weigh close with or without wings to one another, a few grams isn't going to make a break someones run.

Enforce more esc\software,  and mms readings on motor more than worrying about the  possibilty of  tossing lead on the track and killing a 1000.oo pancar after the sprint cars ran.

I just weighed  my 3 sprint cars without wing weigh 49.3-51.2 oz, but if needed 48oz would be perfect wingless min...like i said the weight is a non factor...

I thought we said that 17.5 Sedan would remain Non-ramping and that the ramping class was going away? Maybe I misunderstood.

I was thinking that 48 oz was a pretty good weight without the wing...thanks for the feedback.

The 17.5 blinky class meant to be easy to drive and less techy to set up and will help novice racers get the experience needed to make the move up. When they do move up they'll already have the body and aero package needed for the next class.

52oz is pretty porky with the wings off the car, my car with no wings I think is 49oz. I think 48oz is a fair baseline. I know my car is a tad on the heavy side.

I'm really glad to hear the 17.5 is going to be a blinky class. Are there any other changes to that class? there was buzz about a spec body or going to a spoiler only?

Board meeting notes....

Oval -

*Adding wingless sprints per the rules in this thread, weight was discussed, seemed like 52 oz might require too much weight to be added. Thoughts?

* 17.5 ramping changed to non ramping to make the class more novice/low buck friendly. General consensus of the Board was that with the addition of Sprints there wouldn't be enough racers to populate another mid-class

*10.5 oval changed to 13.5

On road -

*Adding VTA...we'll run both silver can and brushless 25.5 at the March warm up to see how they compare. Leaning toward silver can to better accomodate our club racers...

* 17.5 Sedan will be a ramping class, no 13.5 sedan class

* Short Course truck dropped

* All other classes remain the same

Here is the 2012 Ground Pounder race schedule / location / featured class

March 4 - Water Agency - Warm up race

April 1 - Water Agency - Mini

May 6 - Driven Raceway - Ramping 17.5 Sedan

June 3 - Les Schwab - 13.5 oval / Wingless Sprints

July 7 - Driven Raceway - (night race) Slash Bash

August 5 - Water Agency - 24 Minutes of Le Mans (Nitro Sedan on road)

September 9 - Les Schwab - 17.5 non ramping oval / Nitro oval

October 7 - Driven Raceway - F-1

October 27 - Water Agency - (night race) Figure Eight

*Water Agency - 404 Aviation Blvd, Santa Rosa

* Driven Raceway - 4601 Redwood Dr, Rohnert Park

* Les Schwab - 6700 Hembree Ln., Windsor

Racer X, the board is meeting next Wednesday to discuss several different classes for this year.....

Personally, I think the VTA class will run, it's just a question of whether it's silver can or brushless.

Got off the phone with the rest of the board, looks like we'll be adding a nitro wingless class as well!

Just kidding.......

Trying to keep it light in here before we even turn our first laps in this new class!

Rules will be announced soon, doubt there will be any surprises. We didn't get to be one of Nor-Cal oldest and most successful clubs by going hard against the current.
