Great meeting last night.... thank you to all who attended....good ideas, the main one being the big leap from Novice to stock (ramping 17.5), especially in oval....maybe need a class in between? The suggestion was for a truck class, 17.5 motors, non ramping. Also a call to slow the 10.5 races, maybe going to a 13.5 motor. Biggest change would be to add a non-wing sprint class, running 13.5 motors and 2 cell packs. There seems to be a lot of interest.

There was also a suggestion for a vintage Trans Am class....that looks like fun and I love the looks of the cars...except I'm old enough to have gone to those races in the late 60's. Maybe run a silver can motor and HPI rubber tires.

There was a request to have the road course layout done ahead of time so set up could be done earlier...I'll have aerial shots of our three sites to pass out at the next meeting so everybody can take a shot at designing a course. We only need six good layouts for the year and we could even repeat them next year if we wanted to.

Again this year we'll have the dates, locations and featured classes planned for the whole year on a flyer so you'll know what to expect at each race.

The Board will be meeting shortly to put together a plan before the next meeting.

GP Members spread the word about the meeting, please! E-mail other racers, post on forums, let your friends know!

This is the meeting where the GP Club will discuss possible changes for the 2012 season. Ideas will be brought forth and discussed. Everyone's input is welcome. Not every idea can or will be used, but it never hurts to voice your ideas. Not only will the oval classes be discussed, but on-road as well.

Now is the time to bring up ideas on what to add, what to change, and this includes the race-day itself ....

The Board will gather all the info and then proceed. They will meet and make some decisions, other items will be voted on by the club members during the February meeting.

Tuesday night will be a full house. Please bring R/C cars to show. There will also be a great raffle! Hope to see-you there!

I've been talking to Kevin about coming out for the Ground Pounder season. Spec Truck would be a for sure second class for me if everything else plays out.

Gordon- No, in the spec truck class 17five is open motor choice, novaks, Tp's, D3's, Revtechs, all run up front ,each mill needs a different rollout tho, but we have info for any combo out there for anyone that needs guidence..

I'm hoping to get some more respose from the current stock guy's and potential new guy's to help  vote on ,change the current stock class to the more fun, closer racing class with the trucks.

Dan,Dave, Don, Greg are all for it,i've contacted a few others but i would appreciate anyone that runs the stock class currently or plans on it this 21012 season to chime in,send me an email or call.

The cost of changing the class over is very low, truck body, a set of spec tires, thats it basically, the battery would still be any currently available 1 cell pack..

The class would make the racing closer, slow the cars down a touch, but honestly it would make the class alot better for everyone that runs stock

It's still not a begineer class, but the guy's that work on their oval program are still going to be the ones up front and our pits are always open to help anyone that needs info or help set-up,rollout,etc...

I'll be attending the first gp club meeting whenever that is, i have 2 positive proposal's that are going to help the oval program with the gp club.

Koz- The 17.5 motor that is used in the spec truck class, is that the speed passion cirtrex motor? Speed passion runs a fixed timing so there no timing advance, or is there another motor thats used?

no spec rollout, each motor brand \rotor stregth, etc. takes a different rollout, just too many variables.

Like i said it would certainly tighten up the stock class some, but the guy's who actually work hard to go fast in stock are still going to be the guy's to beat.  oval racing is the hardest form or rc racing to get fast and to stay fast, most get discouraged with oval and quit, and move on to another type of rc racing where it isn't quite as demanding .

It's definitely not a beginer type of class but for the stock guy's it would tighten up the class considerable

Koz: Is there a final drive that is set like that in VTA? The class sounds great, and the close racing would promote both spectators point of view and drivers to join in the fun.

This is another classs to be consider at the next club meeting in January.

The spec truck class would have to replace a class, we just don't have enough local oval program to support another oval class.Spec truck is a really great class, and i would love to see it added to our club program, the racing is super close!

Honestly we would need to get all the current pancar oval guy's only to take a vote on replacing the current stock class with a spec truc class, but it needs to be addressed early enough so guy's can get there tire's and body's.

spec truck rules are as follow's

truck body, 2inch max spoiler height

purple stripe spec tires

17five motor

esc spec mode-easy to tech

battery- we would need to pretty much open this rule up for 2012 or our club deal, since 5000 and under cells are non exsistent for the most part, and allow guy';s to use there current 1 cell packs.

36oz min weight

Any of the club pancar oval guy's post up on your thought's if interested in reformatting the current stock car class to a spec truck class.

our first club race is typically in march\april so that gives guy's more than enough time to aquire a truck body and a set of tires.

Best spec truck body is the protoform truck body

tires- TM,BSR,Jaco,CRC, all make purple striped spec\wgt type tires, they wear great, plenty of bite, probably could go almost 3-5 races on a set of tires.

personally it would make the stock guy's alot closer and makes for better racing ,without the same 2 guy's winning all the time.

Track settup really starts at 7am and if there was a few more club members ready to help out there is no reason the track would not be ready by 8 to 8:30 for practice. Also to make room for any class that whats to run lets just start racing at 10am as the rocks club did to help shorten the day.

Oval Guys for the 2012 season lets bring the truck spec class to the Groundponders. What fun it was racing them down in bakersfield in early December. It was the largest class down there so i am sure there must be some interest in our club. Non ramping esc, 17.5 motor, spec tires, truck body, and battery limitation all to help keep cost down.

Just a few of my thought for 2012 season.
