Let's be clear, a whole new car is not necessary.   Yet to see a problem running any pan chassis in truck due to tire size. I changed ride height and modified my spindles to have a little extra clearance and The car was good with no suspension changes.   Did gear down 4 teeth too.   It runs 1tenth slower than the foam tires did here at p1.  Gregg Davis didn't even change ride height or spindles (crc car).  And set his personal best heat and main the first day!  he ran his foam tire body too so did Ivey and joiner. Both were a tad high but still looked good.   I did cut my new body a tad taller to accommodate but mostly because I'm OCD!  Same arguments we all herd in truck last year.  And look how that's gone (review quote).

We will be racing sat at p1 and Sunday at gp so plenty of track time to be had! Minus this stupid rain! Crossing fingers!

13.5 spec is a foam tire class, the body is a foam tire body.
What about the guy's that are going to have to buy new cars to fit those huge tires? that's not fair? Personally it doesn't matter to me,but there's quite a few out here that a 2.46 tire wont fit period.
Sure hope this gets resolved before first race in april.

Hey Matt, did you get your euro truck all painted.  I was going to cut a couple stickers for mine and if you're still thinking about UPS and you need them I  will cut you a few. This is the only way I know how to get a hold of you.

It should be pointed out that both 13.5 blinky rubber tire (Xfinity body) and 13.5 ramping (HD body) on foam are to be offered. So if you're not into the 13.5 on rubber, you have the foam class...or vice-versa.  Unless something changed at the last meeting?  I wasn't able to attend that one.

If memory serves, the oval classes are:
  • 17.5 ROAR Blinky Winged Sprint
  • 17.5 Rubber Tire Truck (PF ORT Body)
  • 13.5 Rubber Tire (PF XFinity Body)
  • 13.5 Foam Ramping (Open NASCAR Body w/Wing)
  • '55 Bomber

And Nitro Sprint will run a few exhibition deals as has been done the last few seasons.

Something for everyone!

By the way Koz this was the quote from Jan 20th that we used used in the meeting Last Tuesday to determine rules.

"Rubber tire info for truck and 13.5 spec guy's- I had 60 runs on spec tires- the only 17.5 truck to go 70 at delta ,that was on run 55 or so.. and there still just as fast as the 3rd run.. so hell yeah on 13.5 spec going to rubber crc spec tire" - Kevin

Have you ran rubber tire on outdoor asphalt?  I heard the same concerns about truck last year and that's been the highest attended pan car class in years.  How about instead of a stepping stone to a faster class let it be what it is, more inclusive, possibly closer racing (like truck)  that didn't require a tire truer or a huge tire budget.  The 25% of us....Ivey, joiner, Davis, Lespley, knight, Milleman and I all ran it and had a great time!!   The racing was great easy to set up and fun! Hopefully the other 75 % will show up for the next gp race!  That would be 25 cars or more! Lol!

Go go away rain go away!!!!!!

Why in the world would you guy's put rubber tires on a foam tire class car? it's only going to make it even harder for guy's to get them fast,it solves nothing,it actually is hurting the class, i know pretty much everyone that supports that class does not want to run rubber tire. There's no progressive up class, rubber is fine for truck, but a fast class like 13.5 just makes no sense.
I sure hope this isn't set as a for sure thing for gp 2017.. 75% or more of the guy's supporting that class do not want rubber tire!!

Let's see what happens between now and Friday. If there's a chance and it's dry on Saturday and clear for the weekend, then we will run on Sunday. However, if it is off and on moisture through out the day, then I will call for a rain out and schedule a race in two weeks. Fingers crossed lets see what goes down.

Alright, I will let the motor of choice be ROAR approved. Then I will try again next year to insist on following the TCS motor rule.

Ray, as for the Tamiya euro truck rule, you are correct their is no changing of the motor, the speed control or the battery. The battery must be the type listed in the TCS rules. The only item that is allowed is the bearing up grade. This class is strictly box stock. I talked to Jake on Friday to see what will be in stock for the euro truck. For now it could be tires or battery or motor.

Just to be clear on the euro truck class.  Because I know that a lot of people  been purchasing them. We voted at the meeting that it must remain box stock.  You can't change the shocks or the motor.  The only thing that you can change is you can install a bearing kit.  And use the servo, radio, and receiver of your choice.

Agreed, my wallet would be happier if I don't have to buy another motor too.

I am in favor of keeping it that way Bryce. Not sure my budget will allow a new motor on top of everything else I've bought for this coming season.

Last year we just went with any "ROAR" approved 21.5 spec motor. That seemed to work for all the Mini drivers.

Art, I don't see why we can't. Unless there is a problem with Reedy suppling the motor, or if the members want to run ROAR approved motors, I will change the rule back to any ROAR approved 21.5 motor. Let's see what the Mini driver's say.
