Hey All!

Interested in running the Tamiya Semi, are there official rules/specs up yet? i.e. is the Hahn version the only one approved or can we run the Reinert version? Is there a difference? Just want to make sure before I buy one...

Kevin, I'd like to see how many 13.5 spec show up for the warm up race, so I can get some feed back from the drivers on tires and or problems. The board will be meeting soon to finalize the classes. So, fingers cross lets see if we can run on Sunday.

Is 13.5 spec going to be rubber tire for 100% for sure? I would like to know as i'm sure a few others, since some have to build new cars that work with 2.46 tire front and lr.

Damn rain wish we were racin sunday but its not looking good. My opinion on 13.5 spec on rubber tire is great youll bring in newer drivers to that class my thing when it was a foam tire class was i did not want to have to buy a tire turer to runn foam tire a huge expense, also like kevin said foam set up is totally different then rubber so how much racing would i actually do in the class with foam if my set up was not right spinning ouy in yhe corner i would probably not wanna run the class. The p1 race was a great time i had a fast car i learned a great deal of knowledge from rob burns, dave. Ivey and blake that day. I also felt supper proud of my self when i knew the car needed an adjustment told blake hey can you do this on my car and boom the adjustment made it way better. I would not have that with foams right away

Well have support for the expert class once again. we should have 5-7 like in the past.
rubber 13.5 i'm not so sure thats the way to go,i do like the tire deal,i had close to 60 runs on my truck set and it went 70 4:02 right around run 56 or so at delta.. from a $$$ perspective it's fantastic.. prolly get three years on a set of tires at gp club racing
If it nets us 8entry's plus every race then that's awesome, we'll be switching to rubber at delta once it's set in stone for gp 2017.
FYI anyone reading this thread- throwout whatever you've learned about foam tire racing,it does not work for rubber. We';ve been doing some pretty strange stuff to get them fast and free,i sure wish they would have used the same insert front and rear,it would of helped the oval side out tremendously. Those rubber tires were designed for F1 not oval.
Hope you guy's get you're warm up in,i'll be playing in the clay, but expect to make the rest of gp club racing starting in april.

Kevin, beside 13.5 spec, are you fine with the 13.5 cup class? We are not changing the rules except for the motor. The other new class is the winged sprints 17.5 NR. After watching the 13.5 spec with rubber tire up at P1, as close as the battle for first was that was some good racing.

I will post up on Friday if the race is a go, or not.

Sure you can always make a case against anything just look at politics lol.  If you wanna discuss it further my numbers in my signature shoot me a text.

it's going to be a great year at GP this year!  We've got some excited guys and the last meeting was packed with voting people. I haven't seen this much enthusiasm in a long time!  Can't wait except for the stupid rain!

lol.. really?some of the  current cars cannot run a large  Left REAR tire, without cutting up the chassis. 13.5 spec is a foam tire class, most cars are foam tire cars.
Just off the top of my head i can think of 1\2 dozen that wont clear lr ,and my personal car wont clear lr or in front. But i can build whatever it doesnt effect me,i'm concerned for other guy's that it's going to effect. It just doesnt make sense other than cost of the tires, which is the only positive.
What ever is best for the GP club i'm all for it.. the outcome is still going to be the same regardless if it';s foam or rubber. Getting car counts up all year thru.

I had fun running truck and helping guy's get faster, there's a place for rubber truck and sportsman 21.5.
Rubber vs foam 3-4 laps difference with the good cars.

 Cya guy's in april..

Let's be clear, a whole new car is not necessary.   Yet to see a problem running any pan chassis in truck due to tire size. I changed ride height and modified my spindles to have a little extra clearance and The car was good with no suspension changes.   Did gear down 4 teeth too.   It runs 1tenth slower than the foam tires did here at p1.  Gregg Davis didn't even change ride height or spindles (crc car).  And set his personal best heat and main the first day!  he ran his foam tire body too so did Ivey and joiner. Both were a tad high but still looked good.   I did cut my new body a tad taller to accommodate but mostly because I'm OCD!  Same arguments we all herd in truck last year.  And look how that's gone (review quote).

We will be racing sat at p1 and Sunday at gp so plenty of track time to be had! Minus this stupid rain! Crossing fingers!

What about the guy's that are going to have to buy new cars to fit those huge tires? that's not fair? Personally it doesn't matter to me,but there's quite a few out here that a 2.46 tire wont fit period.
Sure hope this gets resolved before first race in april.

Hey Matt, did you get your euro truck all painted.  I was going to cut a couple stickers for mine and if you're still thinking about UPS and you need them I  will cut you a few. This is the only way I know how to get a hold of you.

It should be pointed out that both 13.5 blinky rubber tire (Xfinity body) and 13.5 ramping (HD body) on foam are to be offered. So if you're not into the 13.5 on rubber, you have the foam class...or vice-versa.  Unless something changed at the last meeting?  I wasn't able to attend that one.

If memory serves, the oval classes are:
  • 17.5 ROAR Blinky Winged Sprint
  • 17.5 Rubber Tire Truck (PF ORT Body)
  • 13.5 Rubber Tire (PF XFinity Body)
  • 13.5 Foam Ramping (Open NASCAR Body w/Wing)
  • '55 Bomber

And Nitro Sprint will run a few exhibition deals as has been done the last few seasons.

Something for everyone!

By the way Koz this was the quote from Jan 20th that we used used in the meeting Last Tuesday to determine rules.

"Rubber tire info for truck and 13.5 spec guy's- I had 60 runs on spec tires- the only 17.5 truck to go 70 at delta ,that was on run 55 or so.. and there still just as fast as the 3rd run.. so hell yeah on 13.5 spec going to rubber crc spec tire" - Kevin

Have you ran rubber tire on outdoor asphalt?  I heard the same concerns about truck last year and that's been the highest attended pan car class in years.  How about instead of a stepping stone to a faster class let it be what it is, more inclusive, possibly closer racing (like truck)  that didn't require a tire truer or a huge tire budget.  The 25% of us....Ivey, joiner, Davis, Lespley, knight, Milleman and I all ran it and had a great time!!   The racing was great easy to set up and fun! Hopefully the other 75 % will show up for the next gp race!  That would be 25 cars or more! Lol!

Go go away rain go away!!!!!!

Why in the world would you guy's put rubber tires on a foam tire class car? it's only going to make it even harder for guy's to get them fast,it solves nothing,it actually is hurting the class, i know pretty much everyone that supports that class does not want to run rubber tire. There's no progressive up class, rubber is fine for truck, but a fast class like 13.5 just makes no sense.
I sure hope this isn't set as a for sure thing for gp 2017.. 75% or more of the guy's supporting that class do not want rubber tire!!

Let's see what happens between now and Friday. If there's a chance and it's dry on Saturday and clear for the weekend, then we will run on Sunday. However, if it is off and on moisture through out the day, then I will call for a rain out and schedule a race in two weeks. Fingers crossed lets see what goes down.
