Our meeting is next Tuesday the twenty first at 7:30 pm at the Round Table pizza parlor in the Reily shopping center in Rohnert Park. A discussion on the classes will be a main topic, and setting the dates for this season another. I will try and set a date for the board to meet and finalize the classes and schedule for this year as well.

Hope to see all Ground Pounders members at the meeting so we can vote classes for this season.

Schedule a weekend as a double header?! That would be very cool!  Hmmm I'll put some thought into it for the next meeting!

Thanks for the feedback Gordon.
Good to know about the JCW body AND I didn't realize that there were several other LWB's to select from -thanks for pointing that out.

Also, my 10yr sold may join us this year.  He's been previously nervous to race with others, -even though he enjoys RC'ing.  So we may have another novice filling in for some of those moving up.

Eric; after reviewing the general rules, I see no reason you can't run your body the way it is. I see the body you are running now is discontinued, but there are other bodies you can choose from like the #84341 Mini C a long wheel base (239 mm), or the #84276, 84277, 84278, 84279 which is the Alfa MiTo a long wheel base (239 mm), and last the #84148 Alfa MiTo unpainted long wheel base (239 mm). There are mid length wheel base bodies as well to choose from. So, if you can find the body at a different hobby store, then buy it.

Awsome!  We ran em too at P1 on Saturday.... they were awsome!   The 13.5 nascar rubber tires     Worked great!   Took only a couple minutes to get the lap times down and all the cars were dialed!!   Very easy to drive.  Can't wait to run at the warm up!

I ran a 13.5 rubber tire Nationwide today and the car was hooked up. Of course you have to lift to go into the turns not the same as if you were running foam tires. But the lap times were still fast and the car looked good and not a tremendous amount of work to make it hook up. Track was awesome today as it is always thanks to the track crew at Delta. Craig you have a great facility and thank you for giving us a warm clean and safe environment to race in. The guys that came down from the North Bay thank you for coming out and supporting the track. Thanks again Craig.... too many track owners never get enough credit for everything they do. Oh and kudos to you too Jason for calling the races.

Hmm..., the Novice/Sportsman class has some interesting comments.

Ok, my original intent was a class for those Novice drivers who have the basic skills to move up and could refine their talent even more in this class. We have seen what happens when a Novice driver moves up into the 17.5 sedan class, they are slow and their driving is erratic and their lap times show this. I've been there and done that. This class is setup so that the driver can refine their skills and choose the direction they want to go into as the next level for themselves, be it 17.5 sedan, USGT, or VTA if they want. Orriginally, I saw the class as a 4wd chassis, No home builts, a ROAR approved hard case battery, limited to 7000 mah, a ROAR approved 25.5 motor, ir was originally 21.5 but, I think Frank is right about slowing the cars down, a ROAR approved ESC in blinkie mode, and here's the change in the rules, either a USGT body or a VTA body can be used as long as it is listed on the VTA RULES Web site, and open tires. That's right, you can run slicks, USGT tires, or VTA tires. If you look at the prices for tires, there is not a big difference in price. Having the slicks will allow the driver to play with their chassis setup. The weight of the car should be 1380 grams. I chose that weight because it is the weight for both 17.5 sedan and for USGT. So, something to think about, Ah.

The 13.5 spec class sounds great. No wing just the spoiler, and running on rubber tires. I may have to buy another pan car to run in this class, it will go along with my 30 other cars I now have. The expert 13.5 ramped class will replace the 10.5 cup car class this season. I have not found the rules for the 13.5 class from 2015. Could we use the same rules for 10.5 cup cars and change the motor to 13.5 ramped wing?

The other class in oval will be 17.5 winged sprint car. I guess there is no problem with this class. Let's see how it goes. The other on road class under consideration is the Tamiya semi truck class. The cost of the kit is around  $200, and there is no need to change anything, except for bearings. I'm all for this class being a part of the race schedule this season.

Eric; I don't think there will be a problem with you body. When I ran the Alfa body, it too was discontinued on the Web site. I found it on another hobby store's Web site and bought it. So run it for now, I will try and find out about discontinued parts as soon as possible.

As for the rest of the classes, there's no problem that has come forth yet. I will have to get together with the board and vote on approving the changes to the classes. Let's keep up the discussion on the Novice / Sportsman class, the Tamiya semi truck being a class, and the possible oval changes in 10.5 to 13.5 and rubber tire.

I have my son's football game Saturday ...one of these days ..once the kids get a little older then i'll have more time for RC fun.

Gordon,
on the subject of running discontinued parts for Tamiya Mini class.  What I am specifically referring to is in regards to Tamiya not renewing their deals w/ Mini/BMW and thus they've discontinued many of the bodies including the Mini JCW body (that many of us run).  There are not many options to replace the discontinued bodies in long wheelbase size.  I'd like to know if I can run my JCW body, otherwise i'll make other arrangements.  thanks.

Looks like we will have a few rubber tire 13.5s at P1 tomorrow!  If you wanna test on a sealed surface like les Schwab here's your chance!   Will be plenty of trucks and a few sprints as well!
