good write up GORDON I agree with the dirty track. but on another note the winners (yes I do hear things) did not complain lucky ? good set up ?or going slow is going fast? hummm as you racers know I play with my cars and fun is second, lucky is third if I place well.the bomber I race is always a laughing matter always the biggest class put a shim in the left rear and could of finished 3 rd or 4th in the A main but pulled off to start my nitro sprint, in the Nitro sprint I chased the set up through out the day tires, gearing, castor, pipe and top end fuel adjustment, some of the drivers did not do much except gearing , drive steady.myself I ended up 3rd thats good enough for me, love the smell and noise, anyway the track was good for us because we learned to use the other side of the trigger finger hard to do but it works, at the next race (driven) I will go down and wash the track down the night before and we will go back to the old style on sauce, any IDEAS ?? another leaf blower guy?? pays good JUNE 4TH more to come

Well, the first points race is in the books, and I would like to apologize for a few things that came up on Sunday.

First, the traction problem. I have heard from a few of you that it was hard to find grip. This is the first time the club has run a race at Les Schwab in few years. The surface has constant traffic ever day and the build up oils, dirt presents a problem for the souse to work. With the help of Blake Cannon and his sprayer we laid down what we thought would be good grip. Unfortunately, the souse didn't penetrate the layers of road film. Without the chance to clean the surface first, the souse was sticking to the film and not the pavement. Hopefully the surface at Driven will be will allow the souse to work and we will have grip.

Second, not able to race. For those of you who did not race due to a mechanical problem or something else I will talk to Amy and have your entry fee from Sunday applied to the May race at Driven. So, if you did not run a practice session, let me know your name and which classes you were signed up for so that I can have this applied to the next race.

Third, race day starting time. I was hoping to start controlled practice by 9:15 am or so, then the drivers meeting by 10:30 am and heat races by 10:45 am or so. Well, good ideas sometime go wrong and with it the schedule. I am taking full responsibility for the length of the race day. This should not have happened and I will adjust the times so that we are finished by no later than 6 o' clock.

I would like to thank those drivers that traveled a long distance to race with the Ground Pounders club. Some of you haven't raced with us before and some haven't raced with us for a few years. So, thank you all for coming out and supporting the GP club and RC car racing. If you have any comments, post them up and I will answer them as soon as I can.

The next club meeting is on the 18th of April at the Mountian Mike's pizza parlor off commerce blvd., Rohnert Park at 7:30 pm, hope to see you there.

Matt Kid, I left you a phone message, it's yours if you want it, let me know at sport087@yahoo.com .

Hey Ray -

I am on vacation, but will be updating our site on Sunday when I get home with all of that info.

Off the top of my head I know July 9th was the date we landed on for that race though.

Looking for the year race schedule maybe I missed it on the forms couldn't seem to find it.  I remember during one of the meetings we changed either the Fourth of July or the Labor Day race upper down I can't remember I didn't write it down    Just looking for some dates to plan camping trips.  Sunday was super fun thanks to everybody that helped out

Great day of racing!   A long day for sure but glad to be a part of it.   Yep traction was lacking but it's also to be expected in a parking lot.  We dropped 40 liters of sauce and it just kept soaking it up.   Never the less most made the best of it, changed set ups and raced forward and had fun.   Personally I had fun with it, I powered down my punch and was able to put clean runs in.  The weather was amazing and the battles were all super clean!  Can't wait for next month!  See you then!

Matt, Gordon,

Regarding transponder Blue #0...I think it's OK laughing.

Here's what I know:
  1. The red "charging" LED wasn't lit when in the charging rack at end-of-day, Sunday, and the green "charged" LED wasn't lit either...nor would it blink when removed from the charger frown.
    1. Could mean it was dead and not charging.
    2. Or it was fully charged/broadcasting and the green LED wasn't working.
  2. After opening the transponder, I found the old battery was, in fact, fully charged surprised...Since I was in there, I replaced it with a new battery anyway.
  3. When connected to the charger, the red LED came on, indicating the the battery was charging laughing.
  4. After charging overnight, the new battery reached full charge, the red LED went out, but the green LED did not come on frown.
  5. Upon removing it from the charger, the green LED did not blink frown.
...However, when checked for a signal, the transponder was broadcasting surprised. Without the decoder, I don't know if it's broadcasting an intelligent signal, but we can test it at the next race. I wish I had thought to test it with the decoder on Sunday,

I'm hopeful that it's fine and only the green LED has failed. Fingers crossed.

Also note, it would require MAJOR surgery to replace the green LED, which carries risk of destroying the transponder in the process.

-Frank

We didn't "lose" Driven, we got Les Schwab back!!! It used to be part of our normal rotation along with the water agency but, we lost both of those venues because of construction or repaving (slurry seal). It feels good to have two locations again! Let's hope for a third!
