Wellll......I'm finally out of the casts and learning to walk again so it is looking good for later this summer.
Just outa curiosity Joe, since Delta's going with a loose dirt format this year maybe you guys and the Auburn guys can get together and come up with some kind of mini series.
I'd really like to race Auburn since it's a shorter drive but at the present time they're not running any classes that I have cars for. BUT they'll put me in something close if I get down there. Curious about whether the 17.5 sportsman Sprint class is catching on before I dash out and buy ANOTHER 17.5 motor and different tires. Also if anyone is curious about them, I have nine sets of the original off road type tires Matt required for the street stock class. I know a lot of the guys back east swear by them they're the red dot compound still in bags. Things looked pretty good on the practice video shark posted, and it looks like real dirt just might catch on. ????

I'm actually older than the dirt we race on. BUT I still refuse to grow up!

Dirt oval tomorrow night. Gates open at 4 racing at 7 Track surface has not been changed yet. Will not be changing for the the next Friday race either. The track surface is aggressive. So just about any tire will work. The track will be the same for the race on the 12th. I will be removing a layer of clay after the 12th. and reworking the surface for the summer schedule witch will be posted soon.

Thanks Butch. I'll be there tomorrow and so will John , I'm bringing my 8.5 Outlaw 3 and an Outlaw with 13.5 and transmission so we can have an idea how a 13.5 works with both a trans and DD. Judd

Some of us did some testing last night, here is what we found out:
The track: Joe had the track smooth and dry. As we ran there was a groove of sorts down low, not rubbered up but not loose. After a while there was about a 2 foot "groove". Joe misted a little and basically the same thing happened.

I tested both my loose dirt car with an 8.5 motor and my foam tire Gen6 car with direct drive and 13.5 power. On the Gen6 I softened springs down to about 5lb springs, changed gearing to 17/87 and no other changes. It tested well with offroad tires and at one point with Street Tracs.

Tires: Started with Outlaw car with holeshots in the rear, scrubs in the front, very driveable. Tried holeshots in the front, way too much grip made car loose. Went to dirt webs in front, they work fine, tried rebars in rear, tightened car up a bit in the groove. Tried blockades and Duratrax shotguns in rear, both worked well. I also tried Positrons in the rear near the end of practice and in the groove car was stuck. Gen6 started with dirt webs front and shotguns in rear, car was very good and also very close to speed of the Outlaw. Went to Street tracs all around and it worked well. This was before Joe misted the track. After misting car was not stuck as good.
Basically the pin type tires in the rear work well, bar type will work if track can stay packed or tight. In the front the Dirt Web type worked very well, transistors should work also. Rolland tried some ribs on the front of his nitro car and had it working good. Joe tried some RC4Less rubber tires on his 17.5 sprint and that worked well. Shark was testing some type of pin tire on his pro mod and liked it. So there are possibilities, we need to figure out the track. It was pretty abrasive on the holeshots and bar tires.

I'd love to see this happen!  Loose dirt is rad!  Also, I don't see any problem with running a DD for 17.5 with Rubber tires.
