Nova, I would start with Associated TC3 springs in the front, gold on the right and blue on the left, and Custom Works 8lb springs across the rear. 60W oil in the front and 40w in the rear shocks. That's what I have on my car and it seems to work well at the other sealed tracks. Gearing is going to depend on what motor ESC set up you choose, and this being a new track I have no idea yet. Tire wise, I prefer RC4Less purples in the front and Magentas in the rear. Madera has the same sealer and those compounds have been good for me at that track 3 different times with minimal tire wear. But time will tell. As far as that body, I suggest you find the CDK recommended, Hopper might be bringing some in (especially if he wants this class to grow) that way if you choose to travel or run the Gold Cup, you will have no problems.

Nova - RC4LESS.COM has a pattern on what the tires should look like when you groove them. It will also give you the Dremel cutting bit part # to make life easier. Then all I can say is Practice! It takes time.

As far as setup on that older car? I suggest that you go onto DIRTOVAL.COM and post up. There are tons of people that can help you on that site. However, I will say that until the track is layed out and finished, it will be hard to determine what tires and what springs will be needed on that surface.

Sounds like Hopper needs to put together a Dirt Oval workshop one afternoon at the track to help all and everyone that needs it. Sounds like a lot of interest from newbies which is a great thing. Just a suggestion Hopper.

Oh... and any chance of oval practice on the 8th while the Explosion race is going on? Might be a good way to build more intrest with all the off roaders that will be there that day and for some of us that are already getting cars together.... we can get a few laps in!!!

just checking/no worries if not "just helps plan my rc work load for the week"

thanks

Cool, thanks 4 the info Hopper! BTW this is Jason L from off road.

are you guys going to be stocking the foam tires?

also, question for anyone: any good links or web sights for cutting foam tread & grooves? and... any techinques to do this w/out a tire truer?

any further info or 2c on the Customer Works "older model gbx intimidator"  EDM setup/advise would be great! from anyone out there,  or if you have any tuning patrs for sale? tires, springs, ect. Just picked this up on e-bay really clean & lightly used. it does have the slipper eleminator.... witch I know nothing about???.... and a very small spur gear thats 64 pitch.... worth leaving this set up on it? or re-installing a slipper (witch i do have).

Is EDM a pretty big class?? Because im on the fence with some other classes "street stock & sct latemodel or even 4x4 sc late model.

Thanks guys!

Right on Brannon. Check out the 4wd sclm class. It's gonna be fast with plenty of power.

Heck maybe step it up to a 410 Sprint or a 7.5 edm! Plenty of speed for anyone.

agreed!!!!

once again, not trying to knock anyone down.

i might just have to slap this body on my rc8.2 and GO FAST!!! or even my 4x4sct for that matter.

im an offroad guy, i wanna go fast , street is just not part of my vocabulary, even if it is only the name of the tire, LOL

im not discuraged, nor do i want anyone else to be, maybe i just choose the wrong class before doing my research to what i wanna drive for the drivering style and the competative nature of the sport.

not asking you to change anyting or seem that i am upset, not at all, i agree a clear set of rule, and commend you for putting the program. this is just more of a sportsman class, whitch clearly i am a little ( not floating my own boat) above the sportman level.

Not saying im out, Just saying im not gonna run 2wd sclm 17.5 nr.

think i might have to step up the game!!!!!

Thx randy!

Remember that we will be going off of our track rules so please review them. They are mostly the same as the ones Buttercup posted but I wouldn't want any confusion.

I would only recommend the Losi 350 motor. That is what I run and have had great speed with it. It has been very durable as well.

Here is a link to all the rules http://www.ottsspeedshop.com/dlmra-2010rules.html

Any questions just email me or you can text me at 707-483-1773

The class is not designed to be a full bore all out class. It's for the guys buying a $200 rtr slash or sc10. If you want to revive an sct that's been sitting around etc. Option of a late model body makes them look more racey. It's a cheap class for a new guy to get into or for someone racing offroad to try out.

The tire rule is to prevent someone running new sets of m4 or ss tires. I expect any of the harder compound rtr tires (no the JC subcultures that come on some sc10s aren't legal) will last a long time and will hook up fine with s 17.5.

Mccaul if you are going spec motor almost everyone runs the losi 350. I'd try a Google search for the others.

its all good,, rules are for a reason , RIGHT!!!

if you dont wanna play within the rules, you dont play, simple enough right.

i can live wiith that,

In my opinion ,(just my opinion) there are alot of differant rtr tires, for instance , traxxas, losi, or even factory team comes with two differance types of tires in the box, rtr is to vague, and then street fighters. street fighters have alot of unnessisary tread, which just means more weight and rotating mass. being hindered buy a 17.5 nr.

your also right , i do have new stuff often, this is cause i am selective what i race.

im not trying to knock anyones game, and im and positivly sure i will miss out on alot of fun, just not my bag.. im sure you can all understand.

Also remember guys when you are mounting your bodies that the bodies can not scrape the track. You will end up having to mount them pretty high or cut the bottom off in the front. Low looks cool but if you are tearing up the track you can't run.

Sorry to hear you are throwing in the towel slick. The rule is in place to keep costs down. And ensure a more even playing field. You always have new stuff every couple months so I'm not sure if the 40 bucks for tires is really the issue. Either way you will be missing out.

nova- That car will began with a spec edm body available from cdk bodies. The info should be available in the rules I posted. Max motor would be a 7.5. Some guys will run as low as a 10.5 and with ramping its just fine.

I'd say pink compound foams on the left and double pink on the right from either bsr or rc4less will be close.

c'mon bro , dont go out like that ....at least give it shot , everyone else will have the same tire you have so it "evens the playing field "

we all know about throwing money away , at least dont F*%# your time away completely , in the end you can say for sure it is worth the money or not for the tires .

jus' my 2 cents

i mentioned a differnt tire , but if the traction is as high as claimed then the 'Steer Fighters " should be worhty

again ;... there will be a" test and tune" day for this sort of issue guys, to see what works and what doesnt so , we give it a chance fo now

Hi... haven't raced oval in years! I just picked up this Custom Works Intimidator and have a few questions.

1) is there going to be a 2wd late model class here at Delta? or would I run this in EDM with new body? "will be running a novak esc with 8.5 or 7.5 motor

2) Any set up advise would be great. "last time I ran Oval was RC city in Milpitas in the 90's" with siliconed tires

3) what tire & compound will be recommended "to start off with" a set or two.

thanks alot.. any info would help!!! trying to get this all set up for a lil Oval action
