Is there a schedule yet for the winter dirt oval races? I heard this Friday (Dec. 20) will be the first race, is that still a go? If so what time does the track open/sign up close/crashing my buddies start?

Thanks, Jason. That was hugely helpful. I'm now sold on the Demon DD.

My 2 cents

I started out with the CW GBX3 Direct drive car running 360 I did like it & ran it all this last season. with mediocre success. I just Never found a setup that felt good for me Never had an A-main win at Delta & best of 3rd in the B with the BOTW series.

I switched to a Murfdogg DD Demon about 2 months ago... 2 feature wins & a strong front runner already (cant wait to see how I do with the BOTW now) Really simple to set up. Allot less adjustments to deal with (in this case less is more) Murfdogg set this car up to be fast on high bite foams with its basic setup. And is a purpose built 360/spec car. VS the CW car that can also be set up for a 410/mod car.

I was considering both cars like you when I bought the CW car. I went with the CW because of the price. But... looking back, 100% I would have got the Murfdogg knowing what I know now. (1.5 year later)

Plus... I was able to get allot of setup help from Matt Murphy of Murfdogg & Hopper from Delta RC (to name a few) Not that CW doesn't have help or support, but... Murfdogg is pretty dominate in CA and there will always be someone more than willing to help you out.

IMO... spend the extra cash & get the Murfdogg or even look for a used one (used ones go fast tho... so snatch one up when you can)

Hope this helps Jason

In the 360 sprint class, is there a noticeable difference in performance between the Murfdogg Demon direct drive and the Custom Works GBX3 direct drive?

Ok. So if it's a sealed track, that helps simplify my car choice. Thanks, Mr45.

Thanks, Butch. That's very helpful. I'll have to sort this all out in the coming weeks.

Gene the Demon is certainly a great car, Custom Works has great cars as well. As far as the loose dirt part of it, we all have "foam tire" cars or sealed track cars. So from the basic car standpoint you would be on the same playing field as everybody else. But the "loose dirt" part means that a direct drive car might not be so desirable with the exposed gearing. So here is the delimma, if you go gearbox for the loose dirt, you will probably lose a tenth or so on the sealed tracks. I guess it comes down to which track you will be running on most of the time and whether you want to do more maintenance or be more competitive. I have run direct drive cars on loose dirt tracks and if they are wet enough it wasn't a problem. But dusty will probably make you a diff rebuild expert quickly. You could go 410, have a gearbox, get a MD car that is a little wider, run either track and not have to worry about the motor game! That's another option.

I'm planning to run 360. Are you recommending the Demon direct drive for both track surfaces? The reason I mentioned loose dirt is that Rescue has plans to reopen it's oval and, if it happens, they say it will be loose dirt. We'll see on both points: whether or not it truly reopens and, if so, will it be loose dirt. Just weighing all my options.

There are no "loose dirt" tracks in Cali. The only other tracks you will see are hard packed clay tracks. Between the typical sealed tracks and hard packed clay tracks one car will work. Im not sure what class you plan on racing(410, 360 or 17.5)but I do recommend a Murfdogg Demon. There are other cars out there on the same playing level but that is my recommendation.

I'm taking a break from racing until the spring. At that point, I expect to have an electric sprinter. My question is, is there an electric sprint that's adaptable to both sealed tracks and loose dirt tracks? I'm just getting started in electric so I need all the help I can get. I just want to be competitive and I'd rather not have to buy TWO cars to race on both surfaces.
