I would be up for spec tire

I was not for it before but after running at the races in Canada and some back east. I changed my stance on them. you can get sets for 20 bucks and get many more runs out of them then the other combos
when I run Ulti or BSR i will use 2 sets on the races day as they ware faster then the spec
2 weeks ago I went to the Big Chill put a new set of spec on at 40.5 rear 39.5 front (big race size) after 5 runs of practice I was at 40.3 rear and 39.3 front so I stayed with them for the first 3 rounds and put new ones on for round 4 and mains. My sizes for the 1st set are still at 40.2 rear 39.2 front, I will use that set later on the the year, The 2nd set will be use for next race practice and 3 rounds of Qualifying for next race up north. So for the whole weekend I am at 2 sets with a set that I can still run for pratice and Qualifying next big race. If I was on BSR or Ulti oprn tire it would be up to 4 sets and no extra days

For Mod 1/12 up north I went thru 4 sets of Ulti and 2 sets of BSR open tires

For Club Racing I will start at 41.5 and 40.5 and run the for up to 4 race days (yes days)

I do plan to run the Spec tire at Stockton to see lap times now if I'm off pace yes the ulti will come out

What I found is that having the Spec tire will even the playing field

I been to races where if you did not have the right combo you where off pace. 3 years ago I was off by 2 laps of the TQ at Denver Mile High race,Found out what tires combo the top 5 where running and found a set and was able to get into top 5 in the last round.

If People would go with Spec I bet I could gets some 20 sets here for the 9th at 11 to 12 bucks a set front or rears

spec tires that are out there

BSR Purple stripe

CRC purple stripe

JFT blue stripe

17.5 1s blinky
730 grams
3mm
no spec tire as of now

blue rear with dbl blue front
green rear with blue front
I use Ulti Xs rears and XH fronts

SXT traction compound only

as much as I love driving boosted 10.5 pro10 at WSR indoors on carpet is not the place.
17.5 would make for good racing on the carpet more finishing races and not ending up broken on sidelines, was still faster laptimes then mod sedan at IIC.

voting no on the spec bsr tire though.

IIC was 2s 13.5 blinky spec tire last year and we set fastest time of all classes way to fast
IIC this year was 17.5 blinky spec tire  and was 3rd fastest class this year

I would try and bring mine out if we pick one of these setups

they run open everything at SWR and I can hear them just trying to get froward bite
and if we go that route we could hurt someone

Aaron,

Barring snow over the pass, I should be able to get there on Friday, Dec 8, to help with the track setup.

Also want to make sure that we will have WGT-R or WGT running; so, please chime in guys.  Hint, hint to Russ, Roy and others...

Cheers!

Bill
