Ball diffs are typically lighter than a gear diff and have less rotating weight generally speaking. So they can have a competitive advantage. But, the gear diffs are much less maintenance and more consistent. Honestly, in an offroad truck with those big old tires, I wouldn't even consider a ball diff, the rotating weight and diameter of the tires far exceeds that of the diff. I run dirt oval and have a SC10 diff in my car which would benfit from the lighter rotating weight of a ball diff, but when I hear all the other ball diff cars slipping on acceleration, I'll take the gear diff any day. Been running it for 6 months and haven't even look at it yet. I would have ate up 10 ball diffs in that time and wore out the screws in the tranny servicing it.Butch |

I'll explain for you. This goes for all RC cars.
If the car comes with a gear diff, then a ball diff is faster.
If the car comes with a ball diff, then a gear diff is faster.
All of that becomes irrelavent when the "fast guy" keeps winning. Then what ever he is running is faster. Withdrawal is a b*tch |
